The State of Connecticut Has A Much Bigger Problem Than Crime And Incompetency

The State of Connecticut Has A Crime Problem: Auto thefts surged by 33% in 2023 alone, jumping from 7,091 reported incidents in 2022 to a staggering 9,400, marking the third-highest percentage increase nationwide and leaving countless residents vulnerable to brazen juvenile offenders who often face minimal consequences. Persistent strings of car break-ins and thefts in 2025 continue to terrorize communities from Montville to Fairfield, underscoring a systemic failure to curb property crimes that erode public trust and safety. Almost every Connecticut city is a horrific and mismanaged hellhole.

However, the gist of this article is not crime.

The State of Connecticut Has A Competency Problem: Unhinged Liberal Incompetent Scraggly Bearded United States Senator Chris Murphy makes a fool of himself moment by moment on “X” with his repetitive nonsensical babbling reflecting his entire lack of conceptual understanding of any issue but also reflecting a crystal-clear hatred of President Donald J. Trump. Congressional Representative Rosa DeLauro, one of the oldest in Congress at age 82, is embarrassing in appearance and a babbling shame, shunning any suggestions of improvement or developmental vision for her pitiful Congressional district. Senior United States Combat Veteran Senator Richard Blumenthal lied about serving in Vietnam and lied about “not knowing” that he was addressing a Communist convention in 2021. Attorney General William Tong in his furious defense of illegal alien rights, called for a boycott of “Avelo Airlines” in New Haven, either not knowing (or caring) that the fiscally incompetent state Comptroller Sean Scanlon engineered the Avelo arrangement for the inadequate Tweed New Haven Airport campus, residential safety and noise pollution be damned. And not to be undone, Governor Ned Lamont (affectionately known as “King Ned, The Unaccountable”)  continues to move from fraud to scam, the latest being to corrupt the entire state with a new generation of incipient slum housing that helps along one of his wife’s investments, while he is trying to convince his wealthy neighbors in Greenwich that he has everyone’s best interests at heart.

However, the gist of this article is not political incompetency.

Connecticut has many more problems too numerous to mention. But I submit unto you that Connecticut, (aka the State That Cannot Do One Thing Right) has a far greater problem than either of the above problems. It is horrible. It is insidious. It is crippling. It can send the state into bankruptcy and erode private capital and destroy any viability in the state whatsoever.

It is the Debt Problem.

Regardless of what the state-run media and the political system tell you, The State of Connecticut has a debt problem.  There is now an awareness and understanding of the debt and how much debt Connecticut is obligated to pay. Using real numbers, let us examine how much in debt Connecticut is in, and why this should be the number one issue in the upcoming state election in 2026.

To my knowledge, I am the only writer or reporter that has mentioned Connecticut has $100,000,000,000 to $150,000,000,000 (billion) dollars in short- and long-term debt along with unfunded liabilities. Certainly, no candidate or office holder has ever mentioned anything along the line. For a state as small as Connecticut and as small of a population that it has, this is a massive fiscal red flag. But it is not, as the Connecticut Democrat Party just cannot seem to tax and spend enough to satisfy its political special interest groups such as the state employee unions, myriad and unaccountable nonprofits, and politically connected state patronage jobs over the past four decades.

Here are some real fiscal facts that the entire political establishment avoids talking about as published in "The Financial State of the States 2024" report published by Truth in Accounting (https://www.truthinaccounting.org/library/doclib/Financial-State-of-the-States-2024.pdf). Connecticut in this report was given a "F" grade, ranking the state fifty out of 50 (or last) as far as its financial state of affairs. From the report found on pages 50 and 51, "Connecticut had $21 billion available to pay $85.9 billion worth of bills". This figure will increase in 2025 as some federal funding will no longer be available to the state.

Trying to break down the $85.9 billion dollars’ worth of bills in complex and difficult to ascertain. Connecticut in each year's budget, which increases each year, also increases its bonding and borrowing within. Bonds are issued in the state for many reasons including building projects and other related items in the state. Bonds are issued to finance "debt" in the state. Total bonds in the state for 2024 were $34,355,859,000 according to the report. Also according to the report, Unfunded Pension Benefits were $38,010,340,000 and Unfunded Retiree Health Care Benefits were $17,091,549,000. In simple terms, this means every Connecticut citizen down to the smallest infant minimally shoulders a $25,000 debt of the state for which they did not cause. These figures are astronomical for a state as small as Connecticut and unsustainable in any way. Moreover, this massive obligation is more than the supposed "fiscal guardrails" that continue to be ignored by Connecticut's Political Fiscal Barons for what little value they provide. But more clear-headed people are seeing this horrific situation for what it is. My good friend and colleague Tony De Angelo also discussed Connecticut's per person state debt is his segment on Tuesday 9/2 on the 94.9 Lee Elci show (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0rJCaC5DusE)

The state therefore has a massive debt problem. It also does not have enough assets to cover all its debt. The Connecticut Democrat Party laughs about (or fails to comprehend) the debt issue by its usual incoherent economic gibberish. This incoherent economic gibberish includes the usual babblings that the wealthy do not pay enough in taxes, businesses do not pay enough in taxes, there are not enough social programs to help people, more funding is needed in education and that state workers deserve much higher wages and benefits. Economic reality does not exist in the state as Connecticut continues to be a bottom five state in many economic categories. This fact is glossed over by the new, younger incoherent leftist and socialist Democrat candidates that have announced their intentions to run Governor, United States House seats and state legislature seats. Where the money will come from to pay for all their "giveaways" remains a mystery to most educated voters, but not to them as they simply do not understand, let alone care.

It is a simplistic question that truly needs to be addressed by anyone running for Governor, on any ticket in 2026. Republicans that have continually failed to challenge Democrats on many  issues must first learn to understand this most critical debt issue and secondly challenge Democrats and Socialists continually. What is your plan for paying off the massive debt and unfunded liabilities of Connecticut's government in both the short and long run? What does the plan entail? How long will it take? What will you do to decrease state spending? What will you do to whittle the bulbous and often inept state workforce? These questions should be asked daily until there are specific answers to the same. But I am not confident that will ever happen, as courage is in short supply in Connecticut government.

You see, Connecticut's state government is like a drug addict. To feed the drug monkey an addict often lies and steals. It keeps taking drugs at all costs, looking for its next fix. That fix is your tax money wasted on another failed social program and or non-profit who could be pilfering as there are no financial controls on either. That fix is a long-serving state politician getting a simplistic state nonjob to help boost his or her state pension. That fix is to give money to a politically connected business or individual for their work in a campaign, with no worries as to how the money is spent and if it is ever paid back.

And so, it remains in the indentured state of fiscally insolvent Connecticut. Connecticut Taxpayers are damned while the benefaction and veneration of the State's Political and Administrative Bureaucracy is the most critical work that our state government must perform. So let the state perform that critically valuable work all the way into bankruptcy. Regrettably, bankruptcy may be the only cure to eliminate the waste, fraud, crime, incompetency, and debt of Connecticut, once and for all.

Why Taxpayers Have Stopped Believing In The Government

Why have Taxpayers stopped believing in what the federal government says? There are many reasons including the years of economic and social misery of the Biden Administration foisted upon the public. Perhaps such mistrust is rooted in a 1,547-page United States “stop gap” budget bill that was to keep the country operating until March 2025. Included in that unread bill was all sorts of "pork"-related funding that would help to keep our National Debt at over $36.2 trillion dollars and growing by the second or a mere $271,790 owed per American Taxpayer. But ignorant taxpayer who are you? You are not supposed to question line items in that bill such as "essential" "funding of $8 billion for a new football stadium in Washington, D.C., $50 million to be spent annually for an extended drinking water program, five years' worth of funding for a healthcare education program, a re-authorization of the Pandemic and All-Hazards Preparedness Act, the manufacture of more dangerous and exploding electric buses for the continued satisfaction of Kamala Harris, and a future pay raise for members of Congress" (https://www.thecentersquare.com/national/article_f86669c0-bd72-11ef-8ec1-6b8ff665afb6.html). You are also not to question "a one-year extension of the State Department’s Global Engagement Center, which funded an advertisers’ “blacklist” of The New York Post and other outlets to purportedly crack down on “misinformation.”(https://nypost.com/2024/12/18/us-news/musk-and-ramaswamy-press-house-gop-to-kill-federal-funding-bill-ever-seen-a-bigger-piece-of-pork/).

I am curious if any of the United States Representatives in Connecticut bothered to read any part of this 1,547-page bill loaded with payouts and payoffs? Of course not, and Taxpayers know it does not work this way. As just one horrific example of the putrid state of government, we watched an embarrassing and unhinged Connecticut United States Representative Democrat/Socialist Rosa DeLauro storm to the speaker’s podium on December 19 and rant the following: “Yesterday a multi-billionaire, with apparently no working knowledge of government or of appropriations — a self-appointed president of the United States, Elon Musk — issued a marching order for House Republicans to go against their own elected leadership and shut down the government,” (https://www.politico.com/live-updates/2024/12/19/congress/government-shutdown-house-vote-00195479). It is ironic that DeLauro, whose net worth is well over $20 million dollars, is jealous of Elon Musk's wealth given that in her 34-plus years in Congress she has done little actually "representing" the people of her district. It is ironic that one who has made her living being bought by the whims of monied people was now shrieking about a monied person espousing a contrary view to her own. One could not help but laugh at her speech, purple hair, and statements this week on the floor of Congress that were carried to millions on “X”. This is an excellent example of why Taxpayers stopped believing what their government says. In fact, if I were writing a dictionary of terms, I would not attempt to define “mistrust of government”, but rather would just insert a video of this horrific and embarrassing spectacle in its place. It really was that wretched of a performance, shameful even for the State of Connecticut.

Why have Taxpayers stopped believing what their state government says especially in such Democrat led states like Connecticut? There are many reasons. King Governor Ned Lamont The Unaccountable has been the beneficiary of a masterwork in the utilization of millions of state tax dollars to craft stories obfuscating any mention of his continual pattern of leveraging state resources and funding for the benefit of his wife's hedge fund Oak HC/FT through numerous, questionable deals, no bid contracts, and specious transactions. [I have written numerous times about the Lamont associated companies relating to the Covid-19 crisis include "Thermo Fisher Scientific", "Sema 4", " Core Infomatics", "Ocrulus", "Urjanet", "1life Healthcare", "Galileo Health", "Castlight Health", "Paladina Health", and "VillageMD" to name some that have found a way to deal with state-connected entities). But the state is also a great business bank to the Lamont family as well. My good friend and colleague Tony De Angelo first broke the real facts of the $15,000,000, 2% (two percent) “disappearing sweetheart” Connecticut loan to Lamont-family connected Sema-4 using state investments with no collateral or guarantee of repayment on his weekly segment on the Lee Elci radio program 94.9FM, along with the $5 million dollars directed to Lamont family-connected Digital Currency Group to (in theory) "move" 300 jobs to Stamford, CT. But if you did nothing other than watch local state-run media, you would be told that The Unaccountable is the economic, health and well-being, and governance Champion of the state. You will be told that The Unaccountable is "the most popular governor in the country", "saved us all from dying of Covid" and "single-handedly engineered the "Connecticut Comeback". You will never be told that The Unaccountable’s wife’s partnership holds multi-million-dollar capital investments in the Cayman Islands (or more accurately, the secret, tax-free haven, anti-abortion and anti-gay marriage Cayman Islands). But why do you need to know that? Its contrary to the narrative about The Unaccountable. The narrative costs millions of dollars to prop up by means of fictional stories. You are sinful and a conspiracy theorist if you do not believe it! This is why citizens who are the least bit sane have absolutely no trust in the Connecticut government anymore. (Why should they?)

However, the parade of Connecticut mistrust is long and wide. Decent mortgage and taxpaying homeowners battle with un-elected imperious bureaucrats and inane and delusional legislators pressuring local towns and cities to cede control of local zoning laws for the sake of "affordable" housing and "public" transportation, all for the sake of “the public good”. Or, how about the Connecticut comptroller's college system audit reveals 'systematic' misuse of state funds where the perpetrators are encouraged to stay on the job rather than be prosecuted? Democrat Comptroller Sean Scanlon wanders in water over his head with the problems that have been exposed with this audit. However, he gladly follows the Connecticut Democrat Party narrative of expressing surprise at the corruption and vows to address it even though the problems have been known for many months. But let's not stop there. How about the highest electric rates in the country thanks to an incoherent Democrat "green" energy manifesto? Connecticut still has $150 billion dollars in short- and long-term debt and unfunded liabilities. It is a bottom feeder state with high taxes, poor infrastructure, horrible reputation, economically incoherent state union labor agreements, legislative Communist aspirants in-training, high crime, theft and murders, rampant illegal drug trafficking, state-enabled drug abuse, and a lack of any ethics or accountability from its Governor's office. But turn to state-run television and print media! You will be reassured that never happens in Connecticut and the Lamont cash trough is the blueprint for all Democrat elected officials. And you will never hear one word of any of these mentioned. Its just more in a myriad of reasons that Connecticut taxpayers cannot and do not trust their government anymore. (How could they?)

Why have Taxpayers stopped believing what their local government says especially in Democrat led cities such as Bridgeport, Connecticut? There are many reasons. Take Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim as one. After being convicted of racketeering, extortion, and other crimes and serving prison time, Marse Joe gets elected back into office. He spent seven years in prison beginning in 2003 before he was voted back as Mayor of Bridgeport in 2015. His current legacy is the total corruption of the election process following the findings of voter and ballot fraud by loyal Democrat official Wanda Geter-Pataky on several occasions in at least several elections. In real terms your vote really does not count in Bridgeport nor can a functional two-party system exist in the city given the corruption of elections. Nor do they care. The establishment of Bridgeport, CT will see to that. This is why the citizens of Bridgeport do not trust their government anymore. (Why should they?)

So why have Taxpayers stopped believing what their government says? They have stopped for many reasons, and many more than I have mentioned above. We as Taxpayers are tired of the incoherent gibberish that we are force fed daily by the state-run media and our supposedly "elected" officials along with their elitist non-elected political appointees. They lie to us, wanting us to somehow transcend and transform their lies as truths and know truths to be lies. And their experiment has failed miserably for years as your state tax dollars go to continually prop us this farcical Uniparty of media and government. Taxpayer, once again, be damned.

Why Can't Poor People Feel Safe In Democrat Controlled Crime Infested Connecticut Cities?

Does anyone think that poor people who live in the most crime infested cities in Connecticut feel safe?  I am talking about those people who are poor even  though they may be working, elderly on fixed incomes and or those who are disabled that are forced to live in the crime driven cities of Bridgeport, Hartford and or New Haven.  I am not talking about the illegal drug dealers, slum lords and or criminals that walk freely and are never prosecuted for their crimes in these same streets.  Three cities that are all led by the Democrat Party and three cities that have received massive bailouts over the years financed by Connecticut Taxpayers.  What really has this never ending Democrat one party rule help provide them?  Massive crime?  Massive illegal drug dealing, illegal drug use and drug overdoses too numerous to mention?  The same inhumane living conditions that have been part of these cities since the 1970's?  Failing schools where students are pushed through grades to be promoted even though they can not master basic reading and writing skills?  I really wonder sometimes why the Connecticut Democrat Party wants to inflict these substandard and horrific living conditions on these poor people while they live in their sheltered police protected worlds of gated homes and communities.  While those who are poor even  though they may be working, elderly on fixed incomes and or those who are disabled, must live a lawless inferno of crime, drugs and murders in these same cities, and fear for their lives daily.

However I still know Connecticut citizens who have lived and worked their entire lives in these cities and still somehow believe in their cities and are still living and working there.  I also know many who have fled to much safer places both in and out of Connecticut.  Having taught at an inner city Community College in New Haven for many years I saw a general decline first hand in the city.   I also had many minority students ask me for career advice so that they could get out of the slums of their city and lead a better life.  For many years on the first two nights of class I would bring in notebooks, paper, binders and supplies to give out to the students and I would never come home with anything left.  On the last night of class I would lecture my students as to never being broke, to depend on themselves to be successful and at the end of the lecture I would give them Presidential dollar coins for both themselves and children/grandchildren (if they had any) telling them that they can and will succeed in life and never be broke.   I tried to help them as best I could as I could see the helplessness on many of their faces.  I did have several students in these classes become great success stories in that they were able to graduate from college, have a successful career and raise their loving families.  Many left the cities they were born in.  They left the dysfunctional,  debilitated and politically poisoned cities of their youth knowing these cities are not getting better any time soon.    Also I am saddened to know that many of my students could not handle college and quit, failed and or dropped out.  I can never forget one of the last times I left my night class from that same inner city Community College in New Haven while I was going to my car (I no longer teach there), I was shocked.  I saw the waste of a city with homeless people on the sidewalks, being asked for money by panhandlers and individuals who in my opinion needed psychological help.  To me it was both sad and pathetic.  Why did it get this bad?

Why have these cities descended into this cesspool of crime forcing those people who are poor even  though they may be working, elderly on fixed incomes and or those who are disabled that are forced to live there fearing for their lives daily?  I am fascinated by the Democrat multi-millionaire politicians who rule Connecticut such as Ned Lamont, Richard Blumethal and Rosa DeLauro and have been in power for years really could care less for these poor people.  Because if they really cared they would be advocates of enforcing criminal laws and prosecuting criminals, supporting the police forces of these communities not de-funding them, eliminating illegal drugs flowing into those cities by cartels who now roam free at our borders by closing our borders, and getting people essential psychological help who now are allowed to live in squalor on the streets rather than micromanaging Covid-19 for their own financial and political benefit.  It is pathetic.

Changes are essential in Connecticut's large crime infested cities.  People who are poor even  though they may be working, elderly on fixed incomes and or those who are disabled that are forced to live in these same cities deserve the same freedom from crime that our Democrat multi-millionaire politicians who rule Connecticut such as Ned Lamont, Richard Blumethal and Rosa DeLauro enjoy in their gated security based compounds.  Again crime, murder, and illegal drug use should not be the norm and an inherent part of people lives who live in the cities.  That is why we used to have a legal system to address crime, murder and illegal drugs but in 2022 we apparently no longer have this luxury in the state.  Somehow in theory liberalism eliminated all these bad things in our cities while in reality liberalism has only made it worse.

I think many people are fed up with these ruthless violations of both their personal freedoms and safety that happen on a daily basis.  They want answers not more lies being force fed them daily by elitist politicians who have little perception of reality.  They want a chance at a better life. Why can't they have it?  Why are they suppressed and always conquered by carpetbagging politicians?

And it is 1776 all over again.

$600 Take It Or Leave It-Do You Understand?

$600 Take It Or Leave It-Do You Understand?

Take it or leave it peasants.  Political waste, fraud and a classic view of our government swamp was on full display with one of most brazen rapes of American Taxpayers shown with over 5,600 pages of pork in the guise of “stimulus” and “Covid-19 relief”. The bill if one could actually read it or be allowed to read and digest it shows the waste of Taxpayers monies found in it and also shows the total disrespect the Democrat Party along with many RINO’s in Congress has for the American public in general.  It is corruption at its worse.
Why so much pork for foreign countries now while many Americans are on the verge of bankruptcy?  $600 is the bribe for Americans from this bill.
The following is just a sampling of what has been found in the bill:
The National Art Gallery $154,000,000.
The Smithsonian $1,000,000,000.
The Kennedy Center $40,000,000.
The Ukraine $453,000,000
Pakistan $25,000,000 ($10,000,000 for gender identity)
Egypt $1,300,000.
Cambodia $85,000,000. (didn’t we fight a war there?)
Asia RIA $1,400,000,000. (I can’t find out what this actually is or what it is for?)
$2,500,000 to count the number of amberjack fish in the Gulf of Mexico.
Illegal Aliens can receive up to $1800 also in this bill.
The list of waste in this bill is endless.  And on and on it goes.
$2 trillion dollars ($2,000,000,000,000) basically wasted on nothing to do with Covid-19 nor stimulus except for those who are politically connected.
And Democrats are actually defending this bill as written.  It is sickening that this bill would even be passed.  It is an insult to the American public and the American Taxpayer.  The political swamp that created this bill in Washington is alive and well.  And the public be damned.  $600 take or leave it.  Why don’t you understand?  Our corrupt and unethical government has once again failed us.  Why are we paying taxes for to support this sham?

Did You Know There Was An Election In November In Connecticut's Third Congressional District?

I bet you did not realize there was an election going on in Connecticut's Third Congressional District?  This district has been represented for too long by avowed socialist/ultra liberal Democrat Rosa DeLauro.  She has been in office for a mere 29 years since 1991 and is now 77 years old.  I truly do not know what she has done for our district other than tow the Connecticut Democrat Party line in Washington bringing little of value to our district while usually condemning any ideas brought forth by the Republican Party especially during the Trump Administration just as she did during the Bush Administrations.  What I find ironic about DeLauro is that she recently wrote a long winded piece on why it was ok to remove the Christopher Columbus statue out of Wooster Square in New Haven.  After reading her rhetoric on this subject I truly wonder why any Italian-American voter in the Third Congressional District would want to vote for her again?  But then again DeLauro toes the party line day in and day out with no results whatsoever for the legal citizens of Connecticut's Third Congressional District.  I guess that is the power of her stale incumbency here in Connecticut.
This election we see a powerful challenger to her. Milford Businesswoman Margaret Streicker is running a strong campaign to unseat DeLauro in 2020.  She has been very active in her campaigning and fund raising which I am sure is raising eyebrows in the staic and politically correct DeLauro campaign.
I am still wondering what DeLauro has done for her district over the past thirty years?
I really can not see anything and I truly wonder why she is still in office?
Margaret Streicker represents a breath of fresh air to Connecticut's Third Congressional District.  She stated on her website recently:  (https://streicker2020.com/priorities)
"Connecticut pays the 4th highest property taxes and 2nd highest combined sales and income taxes in the nation and we are getting less and less for it. It’s time to reverse the trend of skyrocketing taxes and lower them to allow hard-working families to stay in the neighborhoods we all know and love."
And DeLauro in my opinion really never makes any statements whatsoever about either the massive taxes we pay in her district nor any type of tax relief in her thirty years in office.  One can also argue that there has been no improvements either in the quality of life in New Haven and or the Third Congressional District since her first term.  For example, "Obamacare" has driven health insurance costs through the roof and has done nothing to improve health care in our district.  Also I really wonder how long our economic recession has to continue in Connecticut's Third Congressional District.  It has been a mere thirty years now.
We need a major change in the people who represent us in Connecticut for Congress.  Rosa DeLauro's time has passed and she needs to get out of office.  I know that my family and friends will be voting for Republican Margaret Streicker for Connecticut's Third Congressional District.   The time is now for a change.  Connecticut's Third Congressional District can not afford another two years of the failed policies of our current Representative.  Enough is enough.
