Why It Doesn’t Surprise Me-It Is Connecticut Of Course

It doesn’t surprise me because it is Connecticut of course.
Connecticut has many social and economic issues that are constantly made worse by poor policy decisions that are forced onto Connecticut Taxpayers by the Connecticut Democrat Party.
It doesn’t surprise me because it is Connecticut of course when new and higher taxes are proposed and signed into law by the Connecticut Democrat Party.  Each year Connecticut Taxpayers hear the same rhetoric of there is a deficit, there can be no cuts in spending, more spending will solve the social ills of the corrupted cities of the state, eliminating guns will solve all the shootings and murders that are taking place in these same corrupted cities, etc.
It doesn’t surprise me because it is Connecticut of course when these same new and higher taxes do little to either help social and economic problems in the state.  These same new and higher taxes seem to help push up the growing state debt of $150 billion dollars in short and long term debt along with its never ending unfunded liabilities.
It doesn’t surprise me because it is Connecticut of course that a state this small has that much debt since it has been run into the ground by the Connecticut Democrat Party for thirty plus years now.
It doesn’t surprise me because it is Connecticut of course either to see that Connecticut ranks as one the top three highest taxed states in the country while also enjoying last or near last rankings in business friendliness and business development.  Sure we will see and have seen in the past all of the grand press conferences showing how the state gave Connecticut Taxpayers monies in the form of legal bribes and unpaid loans and grants to induce businesses to come and or stay in the state when they threaten to move to a lower taxed and lower regulated state.  But a great deal of those same bribed businesses still end up leaving and or go out of business.  Thus what is the point of it?
It doesn’t surprise me because it is Connecticut of course when Connecticut Taxpayers have no say or rights in the state when deciding how their tax monies are spent.  It doesn’t surprise me because it is Connecticut of course because we know the bulk of the state budget goes to a small minority of the population (state government workers, consulting groups and the Connecticut Democrat Party politically connected) through wages, benefits, pensions, no bid contracts and grants along with unpaid loans.
It doesn’t surprise me because it is Connecticut of course when gasoline and diesel prices are going to soar through the roof with the Connecticut Democrat Party’s “An Act Reducing Transportation-Related Carbon Emissions,” Governor’s Bill 884 that will massively increase the taxes on these two fuels while helping to create shortages of these same fuels due to the limitation of carbon allowances being able to be sold in the state.  There will not be enough allowances to meet current demand for these fuels.  Connecticut Taxpayers should get ready to walk to work since there will be much less fuel to be bought due to this economically incoherent bill being shoved down our throats.
It doesn’t surprise me because it is Connecticut of course when there is never a discussion on cutting state spending.
It doesn’t surprise me because it is Connecticut of course when Connecticut Taxpayers are treated as slaves by our state government
And it doesn’t surprise me because it is Connecticut of course when we now see the never ending results of 31 years of omnipotent one-party Connecticut Democrat Party rule.  A state that has been mismanaged into economic oblivion with massive debt, high taxes and skyrocketing crime and theft.  Along with a Governor who whose Hedge Fund has been able to profit nicely from the hysteria of Covid-19 that has been drummed into our heads on a daily executive order basis through a compliant state run media.
What a true mess Connecticut is in now.  It doesn’t surprise me.  Too bad.  Free Connecticut.

Connecticut's Newest Gasoline Tax:Coming Soon

Connecticut's Liberal Democrat Party are hoping for yet more destruction of the state economy by imposing a new regional gasoline tax to combat supposed climate change in the state.  The Yankee Institute reported this week that a regional cap and trade system for gasoline distribution initiated by the little known Transportation and Climate Initiative would force gasoline distributors to purchase carbon allowances in an auction type format and that money (less expenses?) would be used to invest more into failed mass transit systems, failed electric vehicles, etc.  All in the name of supposed climate change.  This proposal was developed through the Georgetown Climate Center in conjunction with the Transportation and Climate Initiative who is funded by some of the following groups:the Barr Foundation, Energy Foundation, Hewlett Foundation,  John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, John Merck Fund, New York Community Trust, Town Creek Foundation, and its core funder, the Rockefeller Brothers Fund.
I did not realize that as a Connecticut Taxpayer and legal citizen that I am now subjected to forced mandates by this group and do not have a say whatsoever in this new policy.  I personally thought that Connecticut still had legally elected State Representatives and Senators that voted on bills that were legally signed into law by the Governor as per our state constitution.  I do not remember when we ceded our energy taxes and policies to the Georgetown Climate Center in conjunction with the Transportation and Climate Initiative?  However in 2010 then Governor Dan Malloy agreed in principal to these plans.  Governor Lamont apparently has the ability to decree this as law without a vote.
And how will this new founded windfall of cash be distributed?  Who gets what?  Who decides the Georgetown Climate Center in conjunction with the Transportation and Climate Initiative?
I personally have never seen a more ridiculous plan trying to be implemented in Connecticut.  And what is the actual tax?  Reports are estimating 12 to 14 cents a gallon currently.  Is there a limit to this tax?  How does the tax get collected?  Can the tax be diverted in Connecticut like all other gasoline and diesel taxes and lumped into the state's general fund?
If we look at the state's failure with its "Green Bank" which taxes Connecticut consumers electric bills helping the state have the highest electric rates in the country through a similar carbon tax-why do we now need this new carbon tax?  And this fund has been raided by the Connecticut Democrat Party to pay for budget deficits and not "clean air".
Once again legal Connecticut Taxpayers and consumers are being led down the road to economic oblivion with this new gasoline tax.  By the way Republican New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu has rejected the Transportation and Climate Initiative four days ago for his state and will participate in it.
It is too bad the free markets are not allowed to come up with their own solutions for this supposed liberal problem.  It is too bad the Connecticut Democrat Party continues to ruin Connecticut economically.

Connecticut's Shrinking Economy: Now #49 Out Of 50 States.

It seems that there is constant news about how poor Connecticut's economy is and how it has not recovered since the last recession.  Recessions come in cycles.  The last recession was in 2008 and since that time Connecticut according to United States Bureau of Economic Analysis has only regained roughly 80% of the jobs it has lost while the country as a whole has more than doubled the jobs it has lost since then.  Connecticut now ranks #49 out of 50 states in economic growth dropping from #32 in 2016.  Connecticut's economy has shrunk to its lowest levels since 2004 a regression of enormous proportions.  This means that Connecticut is losing both businesses and citizens at a rapid level.  It is also means that the eight years of the Democrat leadership of Governor Malloy and a Democrat led State House and Senate have failed miserably in their economic programs.  It also means that the eight years of the Democrat leadership of Governor Malloy and a Democrat led State House and Senate increased taxes and expanded tax programs have failed miserably.  The Democrats who are running for reelection are quick to blame the Weicker/Rowland/Rell administrations.  Some Democrats blame the minority Republicans in the House and Senate for not increasing taxes enough.
Yet the past eight long years in Hartford should prove to any Connecticut voter how poorly managed the economy has been run by the Connecticut Democrat Party.  Yet the Democrats continue to deny that anything is wrong.  They continue to argue for new and higher taxes.  They continue to nurture their brand of political nepotism with tremendous salaries, benefits and pensions for both union and management state workers.  This is the record they are running on in 2018.  The state media continues to embrace their failed policies in their reporting of the upcoming election by focusing upon the supposed "faults" of the Republican candidates.  I read little about any "faults" of the Democrat candidates including their convicted felon who is running for Governor.
Thus 2018 remains a critical election in Connecticut's history.  It could be an election that the economically illiterate Connecticut Democrat Party loses their majorities in the House and Senate.  It could be an election that the state Republican party loses some of their RINOS and become somewhat more fiscally and socially conservative.   It could be an election that we have a Republican Governor elected.  There are a great deal of unknowns this November.  One thing that is known is that Connecticut's economy is in a downward spiral.  Connecticut's economy has not been helped through the giveaway of Connecticut Taxpayer's monies through the Department of Economic and Community Development.  We see now the misuse and lack of record keeping for jobs and loan repayments in this agency.  And we also see that nothing whatsoever is being done at Department of Economic and Community Development to rectify it.
Connecticut's economy is on life support.  Connecticut's economy is damaged and broken.  Connecticut's state government tax and spend policies are economically unsustainable.  They are the direct cause of why businesses and citizens are moving out of Connecticut daily for the past eight years.  Yet many of our elected officials just do not understand it.  And the ultra liberal wing of the Connecticut Democrat Party wants even more state spending and more taxes.
Connecticut is an economic crisis created by years of Democrat Party rule which has increased taxes to unsustainable levels.  Connecticut can only be saved if it is willing to cut taxes and spending.  Connecticut's swamp really needs to be drained this November to survive.

No Connecticut Budget On October 14

Yes there is still no Connecticut budget as of October 14, 2017.  Connecticut remains no only state in the country not to have a budget.  Connecticut still has a massive amount of short and long term debt, short and long term unfunded liabilities along with a massive budget deficit.  Connecticut is ruled not by an elected state legislature but by an omnipotent state labor union along with a core of management non union employees whom are all paid above market salaries, benefits and pensions.  These above market union and non union salaries, pensions and benefits have helped to contribute to Connecticut's constant economic decline and enormous debt.
Thus we still have no budget.  Governor Malloy chooses to insult all groups that he dislikes in the state with regards to his economically illiterate budget proposal he presented several weeks back.  Governor Malloy chose to veto a bi-partisan budget that passed the House and Senate that would have started to address the massive tax and spending problems the state has.  But no the Governor has hissy fits and tantrums when he is being questioned about his budget or lack of leadership.  Yet budget negotiations trudge on and on and on.
And the best part of the entire crisis is that Connecticut Taxpayers will paying Malloy's pension for years to come when he gets out of office.
A dictatorship is seen in Hartford.  Connecticut Taxpayers support this dysfunctionalism on a daily basis due to the high levels of taxes they must pay to live in the state.  The Malloy Administration has been an abysmal failure in governing.  The Connecticut Democrat Party is a tool of the state labor unions.  And Connecticut Taxpayers are governed by an elite few and told what they can have and not have.
There is still no Connecticut budget as of October 14, 2017.  There are still no answers to Connecticut's massive amount of short and long term debt, short and long term unfunded liabilities along with a massive budget deficit. There are still no answers to Connecticut's above market state union and non union salaries, pensions and benefits.  No answers.  Just political grandstanding by the Connecticut Democrat Party.
It is time to take back Connecticut in 2018.

Thanks to the Connecticut Democrat Party Connecticut's Tax Freedom Day Is May 21.

Here come the new taxes for 2017 for Connecticut Taxpayers thanks to the Connecticut Democrat Party.  By the way Connecticut still has a budget deficit.
1. A five cent plastic bag tax.  Any bag that is used by a retailer will be accessed a five cent tax that consumers will have to pay for.  Supposedly this will reduce the number of plastic bags used.  As we know the Connecticut Democrat Party hates these bags as they provide a convenience for shoppers to place their items in that they purchase.  I will assume that not one member of the Connecticut Democrat Party uses plastic bags when they shop.
2. Tolls.  As one representative stated tolls would be "all over the place".  Connecticut Taxpayers would now have an even higher cost of transportation even with one of the highest state per gallon gasoline taxes in the country. Please remember a few years back that the secret gross earnings tax on fuel was supposed to resolve all of our "transportation and road" problems we had in the state.
3. A carbon tax.  This would increase the costs of all energy in Connecticut by placing a $15 per ton tax on carbon emitted through fossil fuels going up $5 each year afterwords.  My estimates of increased costs for Connecticut Taxpayers include a 15 to 20 cent increase in home heating oil and gasoline 10 to 15 cents a gallon.  Electric costs would continue to skyrocket.  This tax would placate the global warming crowd (who apparently do not drive cars or heat or cool where they live) like State Senator Ted Kennedy, Jr.
4. An increase in the state sales tax to 7% with an expansion to many previously exempted areas.  This would allow Connecticut to be ranked back up in the top ten states in our country with one of the highest sales taxes in the country.
5. An elimination of the current $200 property tax exemption on your state income tax for certain income filers.  Thus this can be viewed as an increase in the state income taxes.
6. A shifting of the state mandated teacher funded pension system costs to cities and towns thus increasing the already high property tax burden that local taxpayers pay.  The cut is $400,000,000 which may contribute to a 3 to 6 mill property tax increase depending upon where you live.
What is interesting is that there is no mention of reforming state employees management and non management salaries, benefits and pensions.  I wonder why?
New and higher taxes are the order of the this legislature.  More political patronage, nepotism, waste and fraud.  On May 21 Connecticut Taxpayers finishing paying their total tax bill for the year.  It is the longest length of time for any state as we rank 50 out of 50 states.  Last in the country.  Dead last.  Thanks to the Connecticut Democrat Party.
