Will There Ever Be Honesty And Transparency In Connecticut Government?

When governments fear the people, there is liberty. When people fear the government, there is tyranny." -Thomas Jefferson

Honesty: Honesty can be defined as an adherence to the facts; fairness and straightforwardness of conduct.

Will we ever see the State of Connecticut have an honest and transparent government? Is this really possible? Over the past 8 years, the state has seen a constant trashing of openness, truths, and transparencies in Connecticut's One-Party Democrat Rule. Laws are passed at any time of the day or night, with little to no public comment. Public comment has been forbidden on critical bills, especially with certain aspects of the state budget. Legislators can break the law, legislate while impaired, drive drunk, and fear no repercussions such as being removed from office, serving jail time, and or having their assets attached for their theft and their danger to the public.  Democrat Legislators and or candidates who have lost their elections have been known to receive high paying state jobs under a no bid/application process, to increase their pension benefits/state pensions. Also, a number of print and state-run media “trusted journalists” have treated their fourth estate responsibilities to the public in such a way as to find favor forever in the comfortable bosom of the grateful monolith they were supposed to critically evaluate during their career.  It is all a beautifully convenient way for the state to buy favor and silence critical evaluation over an unsuspecting public as it uses your tax dollars to do so.

Since the state-run and paid media and the Democrat-led government do not list “Truth and Fairness” as their strong suit, concerned members of the public are left to their own devices to get to the heart of many matters. As just one example, said legitimate bodies are of no use in allowing Taxpayers wishing to  financial information about a non-profit that receives Connecticut Taxpayers monies. Serious state business that is “off the books” in an organization such as ADVANCE CT is shut down, and a citizen is forbidden from accessing this business of the state. Connecticut Democrats, along with past-bipartisan legislatures have been successful in eliminating transparency for these non-profits as per the following provisions:

A non-profit is only subject to FOIA if it is legally deemed the "functional equivalent" of a public agency. To determine this, courts and the FOIC apply a strict 4-part test established by the Connecticut Supreme Court (Board of Trustees of Woodstock Academy v. FOI Commission):

Government Function: Does the non-profit perform a core governmental duty?

Level of Funding: Does it rely heavily or near-exclusively on public funding?

Government Involvement/Regulation: Does a government entity heavily regulate or direct its day-to-day operations.

Creation by Government: Was the non-profit explicitly created or chartered by the government?

Needless to say, it is impossible to determine if the four points above are met, since the nonprofit is exempt from all disclosures in the first place. Moreover, let the record reflect that no legislator of any party has championed a full repeal of this law that was constructed directly to deliberately hide state business from the public.

All told with this type of regulation, Connecticut Taxpayers are intentionally eliminated from any understanding as to how and why their tax monies are being spent in this fashion. Moreover, there is absolutely no restriction whatsoever from any of these state-run and state-supported nonprofits to make a full disclosure of all of its books and records immediately, as  the nonprofit Board could act on its own not requiring permission. Of course, no nonprofit would ever do this as it would be the death knell for receiving any future funding from the Democrat-driven government.

This is all a complex layer of fraud and concealment that would make Sam Giancana blush. One good example of this rip off is the fraud and theft of the $15 million dollars given to Democrat State Senator Douglas McCrory’s “Blue Hills Civic Association” that is now lost forever. The Connecticut Freedom of Information Commission ruled that they are not subject to this Act. (https://portal.ct.gov/-/media/foi/agendas/2026/may13/2025-0357.pdf)

Is this honestly and transparency in government?  Why have there been no attempts to get this money back? Will Taxpayers ever be paid back? Why is no Democrat or Republican screaming that this is simply bad law and needs to be changed post-haste?

During the October 22 gubernatorial debate, we heard King Gov. Ned Lamont, the Unaccountable mention the word “Corrupticut” in pejorative terms. I found it quite ironic that the Father of Corrupticut was criticizing himself as the Gold Standard of all state corruption. With that said, I have discussed Governor Ned Lamont's profits with all of his shell games and companies through Oak HC/FT hedge fund while there is still no tax returns published, no transparency, and no demand from the Ryan Fazio campaign for the same. Again I ask why Connecticut Taxpayers seem never to get any information on  Infosys Limited, Digital Currency Group and its affiliates, "ADVANCECT", Boston Consulting Group, UNITE US (CT), Mt. Sinai Genomics, "Thermo Fisher Scientific", "Sema 4", " Core Informatics", "Ocrulus", "Urjanet", "1life Healthcare", "Galileo Health", "Castlight Health", "Paladina Health", "4-CT", and "VillageMD ““The Horsebarn Hill Investment Fund”, McKinsey, “CT Next”, and the Tidal River Fund, “Baby Bonds” portfolio, the UCONN Foundation?  And will we ever going to able to see the Governor's tax returns from the past five years? Is this really honest government? Or has Ned and his Democrat Pals ripped off Connecticut Taxpayers for years now with no worries and will continue to do so in the future?

Connecticut still has $100,000,000,000 to $150,000,000,000 billion dollars in short- and long-term debt along with unfunded liabilities. Please try an FOIA on that and see what response you would get. Just ask yourself why this is the case. Who owes what and why would be a good question to have been answered in this year's election, and hitherto, this question has not been asked.

Like most, I viewed the spectacle of that sad debate between Ned Lamont and Ryan Fazio this past Thursday. A clean and sharp Fazio shined in comparison to the disheveled, unfocused, and physically shuffling Lamont. Regardless of whosoever wins, it is a sad reinforcement that Connecticut still has an uncompetitive income tax while other states beat us into the ground, Connecticut still has zero nonprofit disclosure, we still have bulbous and redundant nonprofit funding,
Connecticut still has the should-be-abolished Department of Economic and Community Development,
Connecticut still has ADVANCE CT, Connecticut will never get to the bottom of what happened in the UCONN Foundation’s “Horsebarn Hill Investment Fund: and the Sema4 scandal and whatever became of your children’s genetic information will forever be banished from the face of the earth.

Is this all satisfactory for you? Simply put, is this the type of government that you want to continue to have in the state? A dictatorship type, King of Kings ruling elite that avoids all serious questions, transparency, and no debate? Why? Ned Lamont and his incompetent political cronies should be prosecuted for their actions. They should not be rewarded by being reelected. Republicans in this state should finally turn the corner in their opposition to this oppression by the Democrats and fight back for real and genuine change, as outlined herein, once and for all. Connecticut Taxpayers deserve an honest and truthful government, and not the current sewer of lies and deceptions.

This election is a last chance for the state, and you have been presented with the facts, the truth, and the lies. This is your last chance to begin to bring real change to the state. And if you do not, there really is little I, or anyone else can do to help you any further. We are now at the end, or the beginning, depending entirely as to what takes place this November.
