Frank Apuzzo For State Representative In Wallingford's 85th District


Frank Apuzzo is running for State Representative in the 85th District that is in Wallingford.  He is running against one of the most entrenched Representatives of Hartford’s Omnipotent One Party Rule –Incumbent Mary Mushinsky.  She has been in office since 1981 voting for every major piece of increased tax legislation that has come into the legislature since that time.  In my opinion she continues to be out-of-touch with the economic reality of Connecticut in 2014 and has been in office way too long.
Mr. Apuzzo is offering a breath of fresh air for voters here in Wallingford.  He has served our country in the Air Force for four years and a subsequent two years in the Air Force reserves. 
He is a product of the Wallingford School System graduating from Sheehan High School in 1993.  He has a great deal of business experience in several different industries.  He is a family man married with two beautiful children.
Mr. Apuzzo sees our state in a much different light than the entrenched Representative of Hartford’s Omnipotent One Party Rule –Incumbent Mary Mushinsky.  He sees businesses continuing to struggle, families crumbling under the oppressive tax burdens of our state and retirees fleeing their state since they can no longer afford to live here when they retire. Entrenched Representative –Incumbent Mary Mushinsky sees an economic utopia where more and higher taxes along with more social governmental dependency programs are the only answer for our economically desolate state.
Mr. Apuzzo to me has great economic leadership abilities to move our state out of the self-induced economic quagmire that Hartford’s Omnipotent One Party Rule and the Malloy Administration drowned its residents and taxpayers in for years now.  He will fight for real tax reform and lower taxes for the taxpayers of Connecticut.  He wants local control of our educational system.  And most critically he understands that businesses not state government create jobs.

Are you better off than you were four years ago under Hartford’s Omnipotent One Party Rule and the Malloy Administration and in particular Incumbent Mary Mushinsky?  I will say emphatically no-we are not better off in the current economic wasteland of Connecticut-it is time for a serious change.  Wallingford voters have a true choice this election-Frank Apuzzo for State Representative in the 85th District.

Maybe Dan Malloy Destroys Jobs? How high is Connecticut's unemployment rate?

How high is Connecticut's unemployment rate?  What is the true rate of unemployment when we no longer count those individuals who are still out-of-work and are no longer collecting unemployment benefits in this percentage?   Wouldn't the Malloy true unemployment rate be much higher than what we are lead to believe?  13%?  20%?  Pick a number any number?
We are led to somehow believe that Tom Foley destroys jobs since he tried unsuccessfully to turn around a textile company in Georgia back in the 1990's and therefore is not fit to become Governor of Connecticut.  Because of something that had happened back in the 1990's-twenty years ago.   This makes sense?
Thus I ask my original question-How high is Connecticut's unemployment rate?
And maybe we could argue effectively that the Malloy Administration and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule are the true economic cancer in the state.
Maybe we could argue the high taxation, anti-business economic climate of choosing economic winners and losers using taxpayers monies has destroyed jobs.
Maybe since Connecticut ranks near last in many different economic categories this has destroyed jobs?
Maybe we could argue that the convoluted policies of the State Economic Development Commission which is using taxpayer's monies to pay to move companies from one to town to another in the state has destroyed jobs?
Maybe we could argue that the past four years of the Malloy Administration and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule has destroyed jobs?
Yes maybe we should look at the true failed economic policies of the Malloy Administration and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule as being the real job destroyers in Connecticut not Tom Foley.
The economic fantasies and failed policies of the Malloy Administration and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule have helped to ruin Connecticut's economy and led to a massive unemployment rate.
That is the economic truth in this election-the job destroyers run the state not Tom Foley.

Tonight's Debate: Round One

Round One.
I am amazed that Mr. Malloy has agreed to seven count them seven debates with Mr. Foley.
I am not amazed that United States Representative Rosa DeLauro will not debate Candidate James Brown.  We all know it is beneath DeLauro to tell the people she supposedly represents where she stands on issues.
Round One of Malloy and Foley should be very interesting.  It is not being televised.  And I am curious as to how Malloy will come out and defend his horrific economic record for the next three months.   I am wondering how Malloy is going to defend the pay for play programs of corporate welfare that his administration has embraced.  I am wondering how Malloy is going to defend any of his actions of the past four years.
Taxpayers of Connecticut have been forced fed the same rhetoric, more and higher taxes, more and higher spending solve all of our problems.  And all the same problems of four years ago are still here today in 2014.  High taxes, economic stagnation, economic turmoil, young people continuing to flee the state, corruption and deception.  That is the record of Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule.
Round One should be a knockout for Mr. Foley based on his opponent's nightmare of an administration.

Another Connecticut Taxpayer Funded Corporate Welfare Payment

I am wondering when the State of Connecticut will start offering tax incentives for people moving from one town to another in Connecticut?  We do it already with businesses moving from one town to another in the state so why not people?
The latest round of taxpayer funded corporate welfarism can be seen in a business that is moving all the way from New Haven to North Haven.  A mere $1.77 million more dollars of taxpayers monies is on the line for C.W. Cowles company to move its plant from New Haven all the way to North Haven where it purchased the old Marlins Firearms Building.  50% of the loan is forgiven if the company can retain the 117 jobs it currently has and creates 59 new jobs (which are the jobs it is bringing with them from closing their plant in East Longmeadow, Mass.)  Thus $885,000 plus of the loan will be forgiven with these jobs that being moved.  How is that creating new jobs when the jobs are just being moved from one location to another?  How is this helping our economy when the plant is being moved roughly seven miles away from its current location?  Taxpayers are paying this company $15000 for each job that has been moved from one location to another.  And if the company goes under who foots the bill for the loan?  Taxpayers of course.
Hartford’s Omnipotent One Party Rule and the Malloy Administration still feel they are creating a business friendly climate in Connecticut.  We have one of the highest tax rates in the country and realistically one of the worse business climates in the country.  What state do Hartford’s Omnipotent One Party Rule and the Malloy Administration live in?  We as taxpayers have no more information being given to us about the businesses that have failed in our state that were given these same types of loans and benefits.  Nor are we allowed to know under Hartford’s Omnipotent One Party Rule and the Malloy Administration.  The taxpayers of Connecticut work for Hartford’s Omnipotent One Party Rule and the Malloy Administration-there really is no representation for us.  I wonder how much in campaign donations will be forthcoming from the C.W. Cowles after this deal? 

More of the same, winners versus losers-state government using taxpayer monies pick who wins and who loses.  Taxpayers have lost many times over the past four years of Hartford’s Omnipotent One Party Rule and the Malloy Administration.  Mercifully Hartford’s Omnipotent One Party Rule and the Malloy Administration should be coming to a close this November.

Do we really want four more years of the same failed policies?
Do we really want  four more years of the same pay to play?
Do we really want four more years of Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule?

Now the real war begins in Connecticut.
Is this the true record that the Malloy Administration is running on?
The highest tax increase in the state's history?
Followed by the highest long term debt the state has ever seen?

James Brown For Congress In Connecticut's Third District

I wonder if anyone has told Rosa DeLauro to drop out of her re election race like she has told Gubernatorial Candidate Jonathan Pelto?  Just a thought?  Maybe it has been a long 23 years that she has been in office achieving what I do not know for the Third Congressional District here in Connecticut.
James Brown is running against her for this seat in Congress.  And from what I have been reading about him he is offering the voters and taxpayers of our District a true choice this November.
Mr. Brown has offered many different thoughts and ideas on the serious issues of our economy, country and District.  Contrary to the DeLauro robo-calls that we receive from her, Mr. Brown has offered a solid and logical platform to the voters and taxpayers he will represent.
I especially like his solution of our out-of-control federal spending by offering no new spending bills along with small spending cuts to begin the process of addressing the current $17 trillion dollar plus National Debt.
Mr. Brown also offers alternatives to the overpriced and bureaucratic Obamacare program which was fully endorsed by Rosa DeLauro.
He favors Congress making laws again not by Presidential fiat and a major simplification of our economically irrational tax code.
Taxpayers need a Representative who will work for them not the same stale failed policies which force us to work for our Representative as we have today in 2014.

Thursday's Thoughts On Connecticut

Some thoughts for Thursday on Connecticut.
Can this be the year that Connecticut's oppressive economic and political climate changes?
Can this be the year that some new thoughts are developed to move Connecticut's economy forward rather than the usual higher taxes and elite corporate welfare/campaign donation scenarios?
Can this be the year that Connecticut actually addresses its bloated state spending?
Can this be the year that Connecticut addresses finally its massive long term unfunded debt and liabilities?
Can this be the year that Connecticut seeks a new workfare/welfare system that empowers those who are truly in need with the skills necessary to be productive again?
Can this be the year that Connecticut has a full accounting of its business/corporate welfare programs to see who if any has actually paid back their low cost/no cost loans and what is the actual costs of these programs to state taxpayer's?
Can this be the year that Connecticut actually has a full audit of its spending showing taxpayers how many state spending programs are no longer counted in the state budget and what are the true costs and debts to taxpayers?
Can this be the year that Connecticut actually ends Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule?

Or will this be just another year for Connecticut to follow its continuing path of economic ruin, excessive state spending, higher taxes, and even more people fleeing the state to escape the turmoil of
Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule?

More Malloy Connecticut Economic Fantasy News

In Connecticut there seems to be an economic fantasy taking place by Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule.
The economic fantasy is to take taxpayer's monies and give it to businesses already here in Connecticut to keep them here.  Some of those same businesses then donate to some "legal" Democratic party campaign fund.  The net result seems to be a business must pay to play here in Connecticut.
We see little if any mention any more on what has happened to state taxpayers monies given to the Back 9 Network, Ticket Network, Hybrid Insurance Group, The Lazy Burrito restaurant and Bridgewater Associates.
Now what is really happening as far as a loss of jobs really does not get mentioned.
What about in Sprague where Fusion Paperboard will close laying off 140 employees?  Didn't they receive a 10 year $3 million dollar loan at 3% interest to expand operations, keep 147 jobs and create 20 new ones?
Oh well what is $3 million dollars when it is not yours.
How about the Sealed Air Corporation moving 50 jobs out of Danbury to Charlotte?
Thus here are two examples of job losses-one critical to the economic vitality of Sprague.

The economic policies of the Malloy Administration and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule are an economic fantasy.  They have failed our state economy.  They have wasted four more years of state taxpayers monies.  It is a false economic reality.  It has failed our economy.

This is the true economic reality that the Malloy Administration and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule are running on.  Do they really deserve re election in November?

Questions And Answers

A hypothetical Question and Answer session-we know this will never happen.
A theoretical and imaginary view of Connecticut through Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule.
Questions and Answers.
SS: Connecticut's Economy ranks near last in many different economic and business categories as compared to other states-why is that?
HOOPR:  We really do not know where that made up information comes from, we have created 55,000 jobs.
SS:  But the state has lost in excess of over 120,000 jobs.
HOOPR: Again we state we have created 55,000 jobs.
SS:  That means then there is still 65,000 jobs that have been lost since Mr. Malloy has taken office.
HOOPR: No we have created 55,000 jobs.
SS: Government can not create jobs however, only private industry can.
HOOPR: You are right yet we have created 55,000 jobs and will be creating more through the Governor's First Five Program.
SS:  But why are we using taxpayer's monies to create jobs?  Why can't we just lower taxes and excessive governmental regulations to help business and industry in the state?
HOOPR:  That may be possible but not probable.  When we give taxpayer's monies to these companies they create jobs.
SS: But you did not answer the question.  Also many have started to question the amount of money being donated the Democrats by these same companies.
HOOPR: We stand by the 55,000 jobs created.
SS:  Connecticut has one of the highest tax rates in the country along over $100 billion dollars in long term debt.  What is being done by your party to address the debt?
HOOPR:  We do not have debt we now have a surplus.
SS:  How can that be, Connecticut has one of the highest per capital debt per person in the country?
HOOPR:  Through the Governor's revenue increases we have a surplus.
SS:  Then why for Fiscal year 2015-2016 we are looking at a budget deficit?
HOOPR: I do not know we have a surplus, why are you asking all of these irrelevant questions on taxes, jobs, the economy and the like?
SS:  Because they impact everyone who still lives in the state, we are still seeing many, many citizens moving out of Connecticut due to high taxes and few jobs.
HOOPR:  You are wrong as are all Republicans-we have created 55,000 jobs and we have a surplus.
SS:  Then what about the 65,000 jobs that have not been recreated?  What about those workers who have given up all hope of finding a job in Connecticut?
HOOPR:  You have unemployment compensation.
SS:  But the state's unemployment compensation fund has had to borrow a massive amount of money from the federal government to stay afloat and charges the remaining state's businesses a special tax each August just to help pay down the interest on this borrowed money.
HOOPR: So what.
SS:  How does that help businesses in the state?  When they now have to pay even more money for their unemployment compensation taxes?
HOOPR:  Again we have created 55,000 jobs.

This question and answer session continued for many hours, and it was always the same answer-I truly hope you are one of the special 55,000 who got a job created from Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule.  The same party that has brought to you high taxes, high unemployment, and no answers.
Why would any voter vote again for these lies?
We really need a change this November.

When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their Public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected, whereby the Legislative Powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.

We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. What Doesn't Mr. Malloy Not Understand?

What doesn't Mr. Malloy understand?
Does he understand free market economics?
Does he understand higher taxes lead to less economic growth?
Does he understand higher taxes lead to even more state governmental spending?
Does he understand higher taxes lead to less consumer spending and investments?
Does he understand that corporate welfare is paid for by Connecticut taxpayers?
Does he understand that excessive state governmental debt erodes the states economy?
Does he understand that Connecticut continues not to create any new jobs or replace the ones that were lost since he took office?
Does he understand that excessive costs of doing business in Connecticut lead businesses to relocate out of the state?
What doesn't Mr. Malloy understand?
I truly wonder if he has any idea the economic damage that his policies and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule have done to Connecticut?
And on this economic record Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule run for reelection this November.
And on this economic record Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule apparently see fit that they should be reelected?
I know if a Republican Governor and Republican controlled Legislature were to run on this type of economic record they would be laughed out of office.
Who is laughing now?  I'm not and I am sure you are not either.

#46 And Dropping

And ranked at #46 (and to me falling) is Connecticut.  How can that be?  I thought we lived in an Utopian Liberals Dreamland?
Connecticut has the fourth highest costs in doing business in our country.  Connecticut has the third highest cost of living in the country.  Connecticut has the second worse economy in the country.  These spectacular numbers lead Connecticut to be ranked #46 in the country for business.
I was wondering if Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule understands the implications of what they have created in our state.  A state that is fast becoming an economic wasteland of lost opportunity and resources.
Will anyone running for state office discuss what they are proposing to do to improve the economy?
Will anyone running for state office discuss what they are proposing to do with our high tax rates?
Will anyone running for state office discuss what they are proposing to do to pay off the $100 billion plus of unfunded liabilities that the state has?
Will anyone running for state office discuss what they are proposing to do to keep violent criminals off our streets?
Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule has really no answers any more.  Their tried and true tactics of more spending, new and much higher taxes, corporate welfare have failed on a day-to-day basis in Connecticut for too many years now.
Worse.
Getting worse.
#46 and dropping.
That is the true record that Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule is running on this November.

Where Is America's Plan In 2014?

Where is America's Plan in 2014?
I do not know.  For the life of me I can not understand any of the policies that Mr. Obama, Mr. Biden,  Mr. Kerry or Mr. Holder expand upon in this current illogical and irrational Administration.
Why are we giving up on Iraq?  How much time, money and human life was expanded to see it go up to terrorism now?  What is the plan for its future?  Obviously none.  It does not concern either Mr. Obama, Mr. Biden, or Mr. Kerry as to either the strategic importance of freedom for those who actually believe in freedom in the Middle East and the new development of more and greater terrorism to be found there.  Why are we risking more American deaths because of this crisis? Mr. Obama, Mr. Biden, or Mr. Kerry should really explain to the American public and military what their actual plan is there.  Is the wholesale murdering of innocent Iraq citizens a way to propel their liberal Utopian ideologies? Why did so many American service men and women die in vain in Iraq?
What about immigration unchecked and run rampant in Texas and in our southwestern borders.  Mr. Obama, Mr. Biden, Mr. Kerry or Mr. Holder should really explain to the American public what this plan is all about.  What is the purpose of this?  Why are we wasting taxpayers monies in this manner?  What is the benefit to our country of unchecked immigration?
Scandals come and go to this Administration.  There are ignored for the advancements of their liberal and lawless agenda.  Our national elected officials are more concerned about frivolous feel good items rather than the disrespect and disregard of the Constitution by this Administration.  Just look at the United States Senate in action along with Connecticut's Senators.  Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil, a simpleton approach to the massive crises that America has today.  The Senate could care less about the American taxpayer.
Talk is cheap.  It is what we have in 2014.  Where is America's Plan in 2014?
I do not know what it is?  Why am I paying taxes to support it?

Wednesday's Thoughts

Over the past few days several individuals have asked me either to try to explain certain issues and or situations that have occurred over the past few weeks.
This week I will try to explain and give my thoughts on several issues that were brought up.
1. Why are the New Britain Rockcats moving to Hartford in a new stadium which is estimated to cost $60 million dollars?  I really do understand this move other than there must be some massive economic incentives being offered to the Rockcats.  I also have no idea how a city as broke as Hartford is coming up with this money for a new stadium and why is it a priority for them.  I know I will have little incentive as a fan to go into Hartford at night to see a game. My feelings are at the last minute the state will come up with a plan to pay for most of the stadium through our tax dollars and the Rockcats will be moving out of the state within five years.  It is truly a lose, lose for New Britain, Hartford and Connecticut taxpayers.
2. Why are candidates running for state office not stating what their goals and plans are if they get elected?  With the exception of a handful of the more conservative candidates I along with you know little about what is going to be done to turn our state around.  We know as taxpayers and voters that Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule do not discuss specifics until they either jam down our throats another tax increase or spending program.  We also can see fringe candidates making third party attempts to run for Governor with extreme Lieutenant Governor candidates running along side of them.  And we should be realistic in the fact that Connecticut is basically broke with (pick your figure) of over $100 billion dollars in unfunded liabilities, a budget deficit of $1 to $2 billion dollars for fiscal 2015 and negative economic growth.
Thus what is the plan by any candidate?  The concern seems only to be to qualify for taxpayers monies to run their campaign.
3. IRS Scandal.  What is going with this-not much since it continues to be in my opinion fully covered up by the Obama Administration.  Same with VA Hospitals, Benghazi, Fast and Furious, Immigration, Telephone records, the list keeps growing by the day with no resolution to anything.  Many moderate and conservative Democrats continue to pull away from this Administration and Mr. Obama continues to look totally unprepared attempting to hold the highest office in the land.  The National midterm elections to me will turn out to be a cleansing on both sides of the aisle.  Washington to me no longer represents the voters who elected them into office.  Senators and Representatives for life have ruined our government along with a massive bureaucracy which entraps our free market system and the exchange of free ideas in our economy.  The tide is turning against the established Washington way in 2014.

We are at a turning point in American history on June 11, 2014.  The corruption that engulfs government is ruining our way of life.  We are still looking for leadership in both Hartford and Washington.

Really sad to watch Obama haters attack this kid who CHOSE to fight to protect the rest of us, just to score political points.

Has Chris Murphy ever been in the military? 
Has he ever come under enemy fire? 
Has he seen firsthand the destruction of a generation of young men and women who have seen combat on foreign soil?  
Has he waited in a Veterans Hospital for care?
Has he seen the jungles of Vietnam and been a POW there?
Has he seen the Middle Eastern hatred of our military men and women who have fought there?
Has he seen how military families been torn apart from the combat deaths of those loved who gave their lives without hesitation to protect the freedom of others (including Chris Murphy)?

Here is something for Chris Murphy to ponder over his coming lifetime as Connecticut’s Senator for Life:
We can reflect on the great sacrifices our military men and women make each day without ego or fanfare to help keep our country safe from worldwide threats. We can also reflect on all of the men and women who gave their lives to our country to keep us free. Freedom has never been nor ever will be free nor should it ever be taken for granted.


Chris Murphy Connecticut’s Senator for Life should really resign over his remarks which have degraded and disgraced every man and women who served our country.

What About If Connecticut Had?

Just thinking.
What about if Connecticut had low taxes and a robust economic climate?
What about if Connecticut had people who wanted to move into the state?
What about if Connecticut had business and industry who wanted to move into the state without taxpayer funded subsidies?
What about if Connecticut had elected officials who put the needs of the state above their personal gain?
What about if Connecticut had high ranking officials who had to work for twenty years before they received their pensions?
What about if Connecticut had a highway system free of construction, potholes, uneven roads and falling-apart bridges?
What about if Connecticut had a better binding arbitration system which was equal and fair to the towns and cities that had to abide by it?
What about if Connecticut had a true competitive state employment system to hire its workers?
What about if Connecticut had a University and Community College system which was truly affordable for legal state residents?
What about if Connecticut had a true balanced budget, no unfunded liabilities and little long term bonding?
What about if Connecticut had a Governor who actually understood the state budget and its implications to take programs off budget?
What about if Connecticut had a Governor who actually governed?
Connecticut-we have none of the above-can change be imminent in November?  Just thinking...

Let Us Place Economic Blame On...

Politicians love to place blame.  For example Mr. Malloy has placed blame on the Republicans (?) for the current economic problems of the state.  High unemployment, a lack of economic growth, residents moving out of state, one of the highest tax burdens in the country and about $80 billion dollars of unfunded liabilities are somehow now the blame of the Republicans.  As a Republican I take great offense to Mr. Malloy’s implication.  I wonder who has been Governor for the past four years.   I wonder who has controlled the State Legislature for how many years-too many to even count at this time.
Thus who is at fault?  We are constantly led to believe that by increasing taxes and increasing spending somehow all of our social and economic problems go away.  We as taxpayers are led to believe that if one position in state government goes unfulfilled (especially when a former Democratic official is not given it) or one program gets cut our state somehow implodes.  Thus we have one of the highest tax rates in the country and one of the highest per capita state governments spending per citizen in the country and in economic reality not much to show for it.  We basically have the same economic and social problems year in and year out.  Whether or not we tax and spend more. 
It truly has become an economic burden to live and work in Connecticut.  As a taxpayer we are held hostage by Hartford’s Omnipotent One Party Rule.  Taxpayers work for government and serve our elected officials.  There is no more checks and balances in state government.  To me it is more an economic disaster day in and day out. 

November is coming the lies about our state will grow by the day.  And who we will elect?  And who will we blame?

Do you see a pattern developing?  Economic chaos and turmoil induced by runaway state spending, nepotism and unethical political behavior?

Welcome to the future of Connecticut.  Land of Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule.  Are you a Democrat who recently either decided not to run for reelection and or lose an election?  No worries, there is a taxpayer's funded job waiting for you in state government.  No need to fill out an application or take an exam, the job is there waiting.  See the former Democratic Mayor of New Britain as an example.  One of many.

Apparently since Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule has been power we see a continuing decline in our economy with high taxes, large deficits, high unemployment and no economic growth.
Unless you are politically connected and receive free taxpayer's monies for your business and then legally give to the Democrat party of Connecticut.  Picking economic winners is a sport for Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule.  And also a disgrace.

This pattern and economic fraud needs to stop in Connecticut.  Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule must be voted out of office.  A change is essential if Connecticut is going to survive economically.  Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule can no longer govern with the chronic lies it feeds taxpayers.  Taxpayers need answers not the deaf political ears of Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule.

This Is A Budget?

Wow, what a state budget!  I wonder if anyone can understand Connecticut's budget?  How much more was pushed off budget?  Does anyone know how much in long term debt and unfunded liabilities the state actually has?  How does obtaining a theoretical $75 million dollars in back taxes help balance a $19 billion dollars that is filled with pork and excesses?  How large a budget deficit is the new Governor looking at when he or she takes office next January (I am truly optimistic that Malloy is one term and done)?  Is it over $1 billion dollars already?  Possibly $2 billion dollars?  And at what level of new and increased taxation will be needed to maintain this bloated spending?
Many questions however no answers by Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule.  Promise everything to the politically connected and force the politically unconnected taxpayers to pay for it.  And still have no long term solutions to the serious economic issues Connecticut has.  It is the same story over and over again, year in and year out.  No changes.  With this budget Connecticut should be ranked 50th out of 50 states in all categories economically soon.
Many plead for a change in Hartford, more balance to government, less laws, less spending, less taxes.  It goes unnoticed and unheard.  Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule only concern is their power, power that is stolen and exhibited in so many different ways.
November is fast approaching-is this really the government that taxpayers want?

No Rebate, Not Now Not Never -

Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule have had enough of tax rebates in an election year. Apparently due to the Bush tax cuts enacted back in 2006 (?), Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule are not receiving enough in capital gains taxes and thus no rebates.  Tax revenues are now all of a sudden down dramatically.  No rebates, not now, not never.  Thus I ask the question when is a rebate, a rebate or a rebate?  The twisted irrational economic logic and tax structure of Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule truly astounds me.  Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule lack of economic literacy is shining through this rebate program.
Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule enacted the largest tax increase in the state's history when Mr. Malloy took office.  The largest tax increase in our state's history was supposed to resolve all of our economic problems and provide Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule even more money to spend at their whim.
So what happened?  All of these higher taxes end up creating even less tax revenues?  Was it that difficult for Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule to figure that out?  And in the same logic it is perfectly acceptable to give away millions of dollars of taxpayer's monies to businesses in the state under the disguise of job retention and or job creation (which is not happening).
It is a sickening economic tax and spend policy that Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule have pursued for the past four years.  Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule are completely out-of-touch with the economic reality of Connecticut.  Their policies have failed taxpayers miserably.
No rebates, not now, not never.
How about No Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule - not now, now never and certainly not this coming November?  Just a thought...

More Free State Money

Come one and all, yet even more free taxpayer’s monies are available by Dan Malloy and Hartford’s Omnipotent One Party Rule.  The next in line for free taxpayers’ monies is in a candidate for Governor home town of Danbury.  The poor Cartus Company of Danbury will now receive incentives of a mere $6.5 million of free taxpayer’s monies so they do not move out of state.  From what I can tell a mere $1.9 million of this free taxpayer’s monies will be forgiven if it retains its 1275 employee workforce.  But here is where it gets better, if they create 100 jobs $3.25 million is forgiven and if they create a mere 200 jobs the entire $6.5 million is forgiven.  At a cost to taxpayer’s of only $32,500 per job.  How long will it take the state to actually receive $6.5 million in new tax money to offset this free money given away in this election year?
Any ideas?  After all it is taxpayer’s monies that is being spent by Dan Malloy and Hartford’s Omnipotent One Party Rule.

Dan Malloy and Hartford’s Omnipotent One Party Rule cannot do enough to manipulate our state economy.  Nor can they give away our taxpayer’s monies fast enough.  For power for Dan Malloy and Hartford’s Omnipotent One Party Rule can never be enough.  An irrational taxpayer’s funded business dollar giveaway is just never enough.  And I really hope in January 2015 we no longer have to put up with Dan Malloy and Hartford’s Omnipotent One Party Rule any more

Is The Tide Turning For Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule? Then Back To Normal.

There was a brief bright spot in Connecticut in the 61st District as Republican Tami Zawistowski won the Special Election to replace Democrat Elaine C. O'Brien who passed away seven weeks ago.  Ms. Zawistowski won by a large margin also in the election.
Could this be a trend for November?  Could it mean the end of Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule?  Maybe we are seeing that taxpayers are irate over the way Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule has damaged Connecticut economically?  The tide has turned and the Democrats are going to be in full spin mode trying to salvage November.  I feel their losses will be mounting through this year.

Another example of the State Legislatures lack of reality, is the Senate led by retiring Senate President Pro Tem Don Williams passed a bill to ban genetically engineered grass seed designed to resist pesticides and herbicides.  However the product apparently has not been developed yet or is in the market.  The House voted down the bill.  My question as a taxpayer is why was this bill even discussed?  With all of the economic problems Connecticut has this was the most pressing issue he could legislate?  And why is Mr. Williams a leading candidate to become President of Quinebaug Valley Community College?  Political connections?  How is he qualified for this position?  After teaching for 32 years why am I not qualified?  I forgot I am not part of the politically elite that have used their political offices for personal and economic gain as is done so well by Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule.  Taxpayers serve our elected officials here in Connecticut-this is just another example.

This Week's Connecticut Economic Observations

I am back from a too brief visit with family in Florida.  I am always amazed at the lower taxes in Florida as compared to here in Connecticut.  No state income tax in Florida and much lower property taxes.
I also can see how middle class taxpayers here in Connecticut are the true servants to our state government.  State government and Hartford's Omnipotent One  Party Rule represents those politically connected not those who work for a living.  We can see the massive indifference by our elected officials here in Connecticut towards those who they supposedly represent.
For example and a continuing example is the massive amounts of free taxpayers monies which are given out by Hartford's Omnipotent One  Party Rule through the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD).  We still have no answers on the $400,000,000 that is given out freely and it seems to me without any qualifiers except for not paying much of it back.   I am curious as to what would happen if we did not pay our state taxes, would they be forgiven?
We see now a politically connected individual Anthony Avallone, a 67 year-old former Democratic State Senator, being appointed to a State Judge position and thus qualifying for a massive pension in just three short years.   Apparently he can receive a mere $104,000 a year after three years as a Judge.
I hope he enjoys that sweet taxpayer funded deal due to his political connections.
Connecticut Network CTN, which is the taxpayer funded General Assembly television network watched by many(?) of our state elected officials is scheduled to see its budget increase from a mere $2.5 million a year to $6 million a year through this unseen piece of a new law being promoted in our General Asssembly:
Section 1. Section 2-71x of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof:
For the fiscal year ending June 30, [2007] 2014, and each fiscal year thereafter, the Comptroller shall segregate [two million five hundred thousand] six million dollars of the amount of the funds received by the state from the tax imposed under chapter 211 on public service companies providing community antenna television service in this state. The moneys segregated by the Comptroller shall be deposited with the Treasurer and made available to the Office of Legislative Management to defray the cost of providing the citizens of this state with Connecticut Television Network coverage of state government deliberations and public policy events.


No big deal what is another $3.5 million of taxpayer's monies?

And so it continues-Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule ruining Connecticut economically day by day. Connecticut Taxpayers must support this economic regime day by day also.

Another Day - Another New Connecticut Utopian Law Proposal



It is another day here in Connecticut, land of economic lasts.

And being another day here in economic lasts, Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule has hatched a new plan to spend taxpayers monies.
This new law proposal wants to provide a state retirement pension system for those private sector workers who do not have one where they work.

Senate Majority Leader Martin Looney of New Haven and House Majority Leader Joseph Aresimowicz of Berlin have developed this Utopian/Orwellian plan, both noting they do not know what it will cost the state. Does any elected official know what any programs costs the state? Probably not, but one does not worry about that when you are an elected official in the State of Connecticut. A state of economics lasts in the country.The details naturally are sketchy at this time for this pension plan (sort of like Obamacare), but I thought that was what Social Security was for? I thought Social Security was supposed to take care of us when we retire after paying in taxes to support it for let say give or take 50 years of working-if one starts at age 16 and works until 65. However that is not true now, because you will not receive a large Social Security check when you retire for apparently a variety of economic reasons, the biggest reason being that Social Security is a pyramid scheme and bankrupt (but we will not talk about that).

Here are some free market solutions to this new manufactured Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule crisis.
Cut state taxes so that taxpayers who actually work for a living would have more money to save and invest for their retirements (which are hopefully out of Connecticut). Yes cut state taxes. Cut taxes as much as possible. Reduce state government at the same time. Stop micromanaging every aspect of a taxpayer's life here in the state of economics lasts in the country.
However, it is another day here in Connecticut, land of economic lasts. The windows of economic opportunity continue to close daily here in Connecticut, land of economic lasts.
Stop spending taxpayer's monies in these ridiculous programs.

Yet More Corporate Welfare In Connecticut Using Taxpayers Dollars

Connecticut is ranked 49 out of 50 states in Fiscal Condition along with many other near last economic categories according to a report recently released by the Mercatus Center of George Mason University.
And Mr. Malloy has given more corporate welfare this time to UTC in the form of a mere $400 million dollar tax break for keeping them here for 15 years and Sikorsky here for five more years before they will probably move.  As part of this agreement UTC must create 400 jobs and invest in a new headquarters in East Hartford along with some other supposed investments.
Whether it is the First Five program, the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD)  for which taxpayers pay $15.6 million for 212 employees or a golf network which still has yet to broadcast, taxpayers monies are given out freely and usually with no strings attached.  
What is the point of giving taxpayers monies to large companies which are already located here in Connecticut?  They can threaten to move and thus they are granted taxpayers monies to stay.  And in turn many of these same companies employees can give legally donations to the Connecticut Democratic party. What a waste of taxpayers monies.
Connecticut taxpayers must be obedient  to Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule.  Taxpayers serve Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule by giving their tax dollars to them.  We as taxpayers are at the mercy of a corrupted state political system.  Corporate welfare is just another shining example of this farce called state government.  In a private industry situation we would see our state government fired for economic incompetency and fraud.  In Connecticut the governmental ruling elite is praised and glorified by those who benefit from them.  
It is a corrupted government that we as taxpayers serve here in Connecticut.  It seems like a lost cause.

Please Remember Governor Malloy Is Right All Of The Time Especially On Economic Issues

Connecticut taxpayers should always remember that Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule is always correct on economic issues.
The minimum wage is another economic issue that Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule is always correct on.  A higher minimum wage somehow increases economic growth according to Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule.  Does the highest tax increase in the state's history inhibit economic growth?  Just curious that if a higher minimum wage increases economic growth how does Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule highest tax increase in the state's history increase economic growth?   I do not understand this logic from an economic point of view.
For example can an argument be made that Connecticut's cost of living is excessively high due to high state taxes?  That these high taxes contribute to the economic stagnation of Connecticut since it ranks near last in most economic categories nationwide?  That these high taxes contribute to the massive amount of taxpayers and businesses who continually leave the state each year?  Again this economic logic fails me.  High taxes have help to create the economic debacle we have in 2014 owned by Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule.
A higher minimum wage will do little if anything economically for our state other than increase all the costs of good and services along with increasing the costs of doing business in the state.  It is too bad Mr. Malloy did not understand what Governor Jindal said.  Mr. Malloy may be the liberals dream-however he is the economic nightmare of Connecticut's taxpayers.   Nor does Mr. Malloy understand the economic mess he has developed in Connecticut.
Connecticut taxpayers should always remember that Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule is always correct on economic issues-except when they are wrong which 99.99% of the time.

At What Point Do Taxpayers Say Enough Is Enough?

How much does it cost taxpayers for a job in Connecticut?  You know the one you are subsidizing through the Department of Economic Development?  Or maybe the Governors First Five Program?
Or how about the Express Program?  Or the Express Program Manufacturing Assistance Act Program?  Or the Manufacturing Assistance Act Projects?  And or the Job Expansion Tax Credit Projects?
My rough estimates on all of these somewhat unknown programs is $400,000,000. It is somewhat difficult to find out this information, apparently we as taxpayers in Connecticut do not need to know.  To retain some jobs, to create some new jobs, to see some of these companies who received funds go out of business ($1,350,000. lost there but hey who is counting?) and on and on....
Buy your job here in Connecticut-but wait Connecticut still has a high unemployment rate.  Connecticut is still charging those who pay into the State's Unemployment Fund a yearly surcharge because the fund is still basically broke.  Wait a minute I thought the $400,000,000 was supposed to create jobs and in economic theory eliminate unemployment?  Why wouldn't $400,000,000 jump start Connecticut's economy?  Why is Connecticut still near last in the country in many different economic categories?  Why are there no answers to this?
Wait it is an election year!  We will hear all of the great things Hartford's Omnipotent Democrat One Party Rule has done for us!  Higher taxes!   More unemployment for a longer duration!  More laws controlling our lives!  More and more of an economic debacle that just continues abated!
How much does it cost taxpayers for a job in Connecticut?
And at what point do taxpayers say enough is enough?

More Thoughts On Your Hartford's Omnipotent Democrat One Party Rule $55 Connecticut Tax Rebate

I still can not get over the possibility of getting back from Hartford's Omnipotent Democrat One Party Rule a $55 Connecticut Tax Rebate-my mind is racing with what I can do with the money.
I am also amazed at all of the new jobs that are supposedly being created with these rebates-pick a number or just make one up-that is what Hartford's Omnipotent Democrat One Party Rule is doing so can't we the taxpayer play along also.
For example let us compare the $55 we may be receiving in comparison to the $214,300,000 of taxpayers monies that was given to the First Five program to help create jobs in our state. 1,377 jobs were supposedly created by last June 30th and a whopping 2,200 jobs in total are supposed to be created from this program.
Or let us compare the same $55 we may be receiving in comparison to the Manufacturers Assistance Act $1,350,000 of taxpayers monies given to two companies that are longer open.  Will taxpayers see a penny of that money paid back?
Or let us compare the same $55 we may be receiving in comparison to the legal contributions made by many of these same recipients of taxpayers monies to a Democratic party fund.  This has been done under the guise of campaign finance reform here in Connecticut.  Get free taxpayers monies from the state, then give to the Connecticut Democrat party.  Great deal.
Hartford's Omnipotent Democrat One Party Rule is delusional in its economic fantasy of Connecticut.
Connecticut continues to rank nationally near last in all economic categories.
I still can not get over the possibility of getting back from Hartford's Omnipotent Democrat One Party Rule a $55 Connecticut Tax Rebate-my mind is racing with what I can do with the money-I am just surprised that Hartford's Omnipotent Democrat One Party Rule isn't forcing us to make a legal $55 political contribution to the Democrat of our choice as a stipulation of this rebate.

The Malloy State Of The State Address-Was He Talking About Connecticut?

I was unclear as to Mr. Malloy's recent snow delayed State of the State address as if he was talking about Connecticut, the state he is supposedly Governor of.  For what Mr. Malloy talked about as far as what was in his $19 billion dollar budget seemed to me to be an economic fantasy in his dreams and the politically charged re-election dreams of Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule.
For example higher minimum wages somehow create new jobs-in Connecticut or in another state when businesses and industries move out to those other business friendly states?
For example a $55 tax rebate stimulates the economy, you can not even buy a full tank of gas with $55.
For example the largest tax increase in the state's history still helps to produce short and long term debt, budget deficits and long term unfunded liabilities.
For example state spending increases another 2.8% in the coming budget, this type of increase is not an increase due to the supposed fact of the massive amounts of money that the state has borrowed and not paid back to fund day-to-day operations.  Therefore the borrowed money does not exist.
For example 27,000 Connecticut residents are not working as compared to when Mr. Malloy took office-this is viewed as an economic recovery in four years?  How many unemployed Connecticut residents have given up finding work in the past four years-possibly 50,000 plus?
For example Connecticut still ranks near last in the country in many different economic areas-this is the true economic reality of Mr. Malloy's economic recovery and the economic dreams of Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule.

We continue to face an economic crisis in Connecticut.  $55 and massive over taxation and over spending does not resolve it.  A new Republican Governor along with a Republican State House of Representatives and State Senate would go a long way in turning the vast economic wasteland known as Connecticut around in 2014.

Connecticut Cattle Call-Buy Your Votes, Laws And Regulations At The Right Price

The 2014 Connecticut election season is in full force.  Some snow has not stopped the Malloy Economic Debacle along with Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule from continuing to buy votes at any level they can.  From free money given to companies through the Department of Economic Development so that they apparently in turn can give legal contributions to the Democrat party, to developers getting state contracts so that they apparently in turn can give legal contributions to the Democrat party, to Stephen F. Mandel Jr., the founder of the Lone Pine Capital hedge fund in Greenwich and one of the biggest financial backers of the state's Democratic Party to have his private foundation pay for what are known as three “fellows” to develop public policy in the office of Mr. Malloy and two state departments-there is no money that can not be used supposedly legally to buy Democrat votes in Connecticut.
Malloy's Economic Debacle along with Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule knows no laws or boundaries.  Public policy and laws in Connecticut are apparently bought at the right price, whether or not Connecticut's near last place economy can handle it or not.  For example
Malloy's Economic Debacle along with Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule wants to buy low income voters through raising the minimum wage to an astounding $10.10 a hour causing more jobs to be lost,  buy middle class voters through a ridiculous $55 tax rebate and buys large corporations through free taxpayers money in the form of forgiven loans, loans that never get paid back, special loans, etc. 
Malloy's Economic Debacle along with Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule continues to bring Connecticut to its knees economically.  Can voters see why?  Massive budget deficits, long term unfunded debt liabilities, unknown job creation and growth, excessive unemployment, political nepotism, higher tax rates in the country, residents moving out at record numbers, businesses moving out of state, the list seems endless.
This is the four year reelection reality of the Malloy Economic Debacle along with Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule.  We are a state bankrupt economically and ethically.  
We need a change in November.  We need in November a Republican Governor along with both a Republican House of Representatives and Republican Senate.  Enough of bought state government and Malloy's Economic Debacle along with Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule.
Connecticut can not survive four more years of this.

The Governor Feels You Are Worth $55 And Or $110-I Guess Taxpayers Votes Are Worthless?

If you earn under $200,000. a year you are worth $55.  If you earn under $400,000 a year you are worth $110 a year.  That is what you are worth according to Governor Malloy in an effort to get you to vote for him again.  It is part of his economic fantasy plan to give back a few dollars to state taxpayers who were slammed with the largest tax increase in our state's history when he took office.  He wants to rebate taxpayers either $55 or $110 this year in an effort for you to vote him back into office (Why?).  In the past four years I believe all taxpayers have paid much more than either $55 or $110 in higher taxes.
What happened to the largest tax increase which was supposed to place Connecticut on the road to recovery.
What recovery?
What surplus?
Connecticut still has massive debt both short term and long term.  It will probably have at least a $1 billion dollar deficit fiscal year 2015.  It still has massive unfunded pension obligations and massive long term bond debt.  It is still is near last in most economic categories with non existent job growth,  high unemployment, one of the highest set of taxes in the country, little cash or budget solvency, and a horrific short and long term fiscal condition.
I guess the Governor's largest tax increase in our state's history has not done much in four years now.  Connecticut continues to be a vast economic wasteland under Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule largely in part to the economically irrational policies of Governor Malloy.
I hope voters and taxpayers see how little they are worth to Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule and Governor Malloy.
Higher taxes and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule have not solved any economic problems in our state.
What an insult $55 and $110 is the citizens of our state.

The Tired State Of The Union

Our State of the Union is very tired.
Five years now of the same, more government will resolve all of our problems.
More laws, more taxes, more of the same.
If Mr. Obama does not get what he wants then he will use his executive order supposed powers-why bother with the United States Constitution now and why bother with Congress which has the legal power to pass laws?
Nothing was said new last night, just as a reminder to the President he has helped create great economic inequality in his five years as President.
Funny no mention of Obamacare and the nightmare it has created for many Americans.
Funny no mention of the NSA spying scandal.
Funny no mention of the IRS investigations of conservative groups.
Funny no mention of Benghazi.
Funny no mention of our out-of-control National Debt.
Our State of the Union is very tired.
Five years now of the same, more government will resolve all of our problems.
More laws, more taxes, more of the same.
More and more rhetoric with the never ending campaign to nowhere.
Three more long years of America's economic nightmare continuing unabated.  By a President totally ill equipped to lead our country.
I truly hope our country can survive.

The Common Core One Million Dollar Ad Campaign Paid For By Connecticut Taxpayers

What is Common Core?  A mere $1 Million Dollars of Connecticut Taxpayers monies will soon be spent to find out.  Common Core is an educational program which ties adoption to "Race to the Top" Federal funding for education.  What are we racing to the top of?  No answers. 
Fortunately State Senator Joe Markley, who is the Republican State Senator from the 16th District is introducing a bill to block Connecticut from spending $1 Million Dollars of Connecticut Taxpayers monies to advertise the bill. 
We still really do not what the standards are of Common Core.  As a Adjunct College Professor for the past thirty-two years now I have seen a continual decline in student abilities and preparedness especially over the past ten years.   Students in many cases are completely unprepared for a college level course.  Public education in my economic opinion is a bureaucracy with little advancement going on in actually teaching our students.  Common Core standards set by Federal Educational Bureaucrats will do little to help this situation.  One can test students all of the state and federal state mandates they want to measure some hypothetical metric with still no results of the student actually understanding and learning a topic or subject.  It is more of the same of stifling actual learning for our students.
Why did the State Board of Education pass Common Core with no input from any educators, parents or our elected officials?  And why is $1 Million Dollars of Connecticut Taxpayers monies needed to advertise the bill?
Senator Markley's bill should be passed - today if possible.  What a waste of education in our society.

Thus these economic rankings should be pretty impressive given one of the highest tax increases in our states history, ranking near last in all of these fiscal categories.  It is truly an impressive economic record for Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule to run on-overseeing an economic debacle of the greatest proportions.
Oops more bad economic news for Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule-but who cares especially when you are dealing the remaining hard working taxpayers monies in Connecticut.

America's Never Ending National Debt

$17 trillion dollars and counting.  That is America's never ending National Debt.  And if taxpayers were to look at the new 1,582 page spending bill which increases spending by a mere $45 billion dollars they would see more of the same.  More wasteful spending, more entitlement programs and absolutely no plan to pay down the National Debt whatsoever.
It is more of the same.  $17 trillion dollars and counting.  No relief in sight.
Some uncomfortable economic facts about our National Debt is that China now owns over $1.3 trillion dollars of that debt.  Japan owns a mere $1.186 trillion dollars of the debt.  Why?  Has anyone in our Congress looked at the human rights violations in China lately?  Just curious.  Has anyone examined how China does business with our country or other countries lately?  Just curious.
Each citizen's share of the National Debt is over $54,000.  A family of four owes over $216,000.  Just curious as to when an actual National Debt tax assessment will be formulated by Congress?  Don't laugh it could happen.
I have come to an economic conclusion that our political system and those involved in it especially at a state and national level only concerns are their political egos, political power and economic gain they can take from our government and in turn from you and I the taxpayers who support this economic debacle.

Connecticut's Inherent Corruption #4

I truly can not keep up with all of Connecticut's Inherent Corruptions that are currently going on for all taxpayers to view.
I truly can not even narrow down the donations, the loans and the forgiveness of all these different loans thanks to the hard working taxpayers of Connecticut.
Thus we are in full reelection mode for Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule.  Give me a donation and we will give you a loan.  All perfectly legal and thanks to the hard working (what is remaining of) taxpayers of Connecticut.
Back to my original Connecticut's Inherent Corruption Swick Speak Blog of 1/4/14, there are now even more issues to the Earl O'Garro, Jr. whose Hybrid Insurance Group failed to pay insurance premiums totaling $670,000 for the City of Hartford policies that they carried with his company and owes the Department of Economic Development $376,000 plus of taxpayers monies.  He has apparently defaulted on those loans and may be in debt to the tune of $1 million dollars through various lawsuits, state records and other records according to a Hartford Courant report http://www.courant.com/community/hartford/hc-ogarro-second-court-order-0114-20140113,0,1639332.story
O'Garro, Jr. has now been charged with failing to pay wages to five of his employees and has been arrested for it by the State Police and released to appear in court on 1/23/14.   By the way he also owned a restaurant in Middletown.  What a mess, but hey isn't he politically connected and therefore should not be concerned with it?
I have a simple question for Mr. Malloy and Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule-when are Connecticut's hard working taxpayers going to get their $376,000 back?  What is the schedule and plan?  When is it going to be communicated to the hard working (what is remaining of) taxpayers of Connecticut?
I guess I will be waiting a long time for my answer.

Connecticut's Inherent Corruption #3

10 jobs per year per loan-for a total of $5,150, 000 spread among four loans.  $4,750,000 of these loans are deferred until 2017 and 2018.   Welcome to Connecticut's Department of Economic and Community Development's taxpayer-funded aid program.  Free taxpayers money with liberal repayment terms all for a mere 10  jobs a year being created supposedly.
Connecticut's Inherent Corruption #3 features Back9Network which is a fledgling Hartford-based cable golf network that's received more than $5 million in state grants and loans from Connecticut's taxpayers.   They owe the state a great deal of money.  They were supposed to start broadcasting January 1, 2014 and have not yet.  They are also being sued by one of the their former Vice President's for $80,000 which he has claimed he spent in his own money for the company and apparently was let go by the company.
But to me here the more fascinating part of this issue: The loans, one in 2012 for $750,000 and one in 2013 for $4 million, for which payments are deferred until 2017 and 2018 loans were made under the Connecticut's Department of Economic and Community Development's Manufacturers' Assistance Act program.
Here from the Department of Economic and Community Development website is what it means:
Economic and Manufacturing Assistance Act (MAA) – Incentive-driven direct loans for projects when there is a strong economic development potential
Eligible uses for MAA funds
Planning, including but not limited to: feasibility studies, engineering, appraisals, market studies and related activities
Acquisition of real property, machinery or equipment or any combination, provided such assistance does not exceed the fair market value
Construction of site and infrastructure improvements relating to a municipal or business development project
Construction/renovation/demolition of buildings
Relocation expenses for the purpose of assisting manufacturing or other economic-based businesses to locate, construct, renovate or acquire a facility
Working capital in conjunction with a business development project
Business support services such as labor training, day care, energy conservation, pollution control, recycling and the like, in conjunction with other state agency

I am unclear as an economist as to how these loans and funds apply to a Cable TV Golf Channel.  But again what do I know about economic development and free taxpayers monies.   I do not know how to play Connecticut's "Pay For Play"  Economic Game with Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule.

Connecticut's Inherent Corruption #2

I was asked by several of my readers to continue to expand on my last blog regarding what many are calling "Pay for Play" or Connecticut's Inherent Corruption scandals.  There are many thus I plan on writing about as many as I can.  
Today I would like to feature another questionable donation to Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule - Connecticut's Democratic Party.  This time it is Affordable Housing-one could ask what is actually affordable in Connecticut with its high tax rate?
I feel these contributions again focus upon the "Pay for Play" mentality of our state government.  One must remember that anyone including state contractors can contribute to any state party's federal account-how this is legal or ethical is debatable in my economic opinion?   But it seems to me that this is the way to "Pay for Play" in Hartford.  Make a contribution then get a state contract-how this is saving taxpayer's monies is any ones guess, but when you are in power - you do whatever you want.
Bruce Whittaker, Jr. who owns the Millennium Group, also has a Division of his company, Millennium Real Estate Services LLC, that manages Sasco Creek Apartments which is owned by the Westport Housing Authority.  Mr. Whittaker gave $5000 to the Democrats on November 19, 2013-amazing enough on November 21, 2013, Millennium received a 4% loan from the Connecticut Housing Authority and $5.7 million in "gap funding" from the Department of Housing for Sasco Creek Apartments to redevelop it adding 54 more units to the current 33 mobile home units that are there.  The original 33 units were built in 1985.  Gap funding may be in the form of a grant and or loan.  From Connecticut's Department of Housing website - "DOH seeks to leverage non-State funds to catalyze the creation and/or preservation of affordable multifamily housing to promote healthy lives, strong communities and a robust economy."
Connecticut really has a robust economy?  According to who?  
Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule - Connecticut's Democratic Party?  "Pay for Play"  Yet another example.

Two days later, Gov. Dannel Malloy announced Sasco Creek Apartments, owned by the Westport Housing Authority and managed by Millenium, would receive a 4 percent loan from the Connecticut Housing Finance Authority and $5.7 million in “gap funding” from the new Department of Housing.
Employees of Viking Construction gave $3,500 in November. Anthony Gaglio Jr., the company president, donated $10,000 in July and has made large donations to the Democratic Party in the past. In September 2012, he posed for a picture with Malloy in front of a sign highlighting the “cooperation” of the state in the construction of The Heights at Darien, a Viking project.
Matthew Anderson of Imagineers donated $2,500. The company administers Section 8 housing vouchers for some housing authorities.

Connecticut's Inherent Corruption

Apparently it has become legal for Connecticut to be corrupt.  One must give a contribution to the Democratic Party and thus one's business or individual person gets a state contract and or taxpayer funded position in our state.  Thus in my economic opinion Connecticut has become inherently corrupted.
Trying to gather information on this pay for play corrupted state government has become difficult.  The media avoids the subject since it must be lock and step to with Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule.  We get little if any answers from our taxpayer funded elected officials either.
The pay for play issue which should make all state taxpayers call their legislators is what the Department of Economic Development did with $376,000 plus of taxpayers monies.  That money was given to politically connected Earl O'Garro, Jr. whose Hybrid Insurance Group failed to pay insurance premiums totaling $670,000 for the City of Hartford policies that they carried with his company. The money was apparently wired to his company rather than the insurance carrier that holds the policy as is the norm.  His company back in 2012 was given a mere $126,000 of taxpayers monies in loans and grants to move from Windsor to a building in Hartford which was owned by Hartford's Treasurer Adam Cloud (who apparently authorized the wire payment to O'Garro's company not the carrier for the premiums), his brother and his father. 
What a political mess.  But not to worry as we see little news regarding what is being done to get this taxpayer money back.  I also feel sorry for the City of Hartford's taxpayers who just saw $670,000 of their money go out the window.
Thus we have Example #1 of Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule corruption and scandal.  Maybe Mr. Malloy could take time out of his busy fundraising schedule and address it.  And maybe taxpayers could get a better explanation of where their $376,000 went. 
Connecticut's Inherent Corruption-alive and well in this election year.
