More Bad News For Soon To Be Former United States Senator Blumenthal.

Democrat/Communist United States Senator Richard Blumenthal has to be shocked at the current "polls" showing him leading by a mere 10 to 15% depending on the Republican candidate he ends up facing in the upcoming November election.  In my opinion and the opinion of many others Blumenthal has helped to create his own political demise this November.  Recently the ever attention grabber wants an immediate investigation as to why there is a shortage of baby formula in Connecticut and nationwide.  I personally do not understand why he is concerned with this as he was the lead author of the Democratic abortion rights bill.  This bill would apparently allow abortion at any time including birth (www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/senate-bill/4132/text).  Reading this bill's text is alarming and shows the blatant disregard for human life that Blumenthal has.  His hypocrisy is even more evident as he was well aware of the impending shortages of baby formula by the actions of the FDA back in February but apparently has had no need to respond until his theatrical press conference of a few days ago to bellow his desire for yet another investigation.  Democrat/Communist United States Senator Richard Blumenthal has demanded so many investigations over the past five years and shown little to no results in functional solutions to the problems that his omnipotent Democrat Party has created for the country.  Nor has he answered why he has such close ties to the Connecticut People’s World Committee, an arm of the Communist Party.  Why did he accept their "award"?

Just look at the energy crisis that Democrat/Communist United States Senator Richard Blumenthal has no answers for.  All that oil that he helped release from the Strategic Reserve has done nothing for the Democrat energy crisis.  Wasn't it Democrat/Communist United States Senator Richard Blumenthal's President Biden who shut down the Keystone Pipeline and a great deal of American energy production when he took office?  Didn't the Senator realize what that was going to do to America's energy markets?  Is Democrat/Communist United States Senator Richard Blumenthal that economically illiterate to see the economic destruction it was going to create for our economy?  Or since Democrat/Communist United States Senator Richard Blumenthal is a multi millionaire he really has no concept of what it is like to actually be productive in the economy and work for a living.  He has no struggles other than maintaining his grip on grooming his ego for all to see and embrace on a daily basis.  The hypocrisy of Democrat/Communist United States Senator Richard Blumenthal is amazing.  And his rhetoric especially now in one of the greatest economic crisis our country has ever faced since the Depression is sickening especially to the Connecticut Taxpayers who must listen to his gibberish.  The same Connecticut Taxpayers and voters who must decide on whether they can afford food any more since energy prices are so high.  No big deal to Democrat/Communist United States Senator Richard Blumenthal since his job is to maintain himself and the political elite who worship him.

Election day is fast approaching.  Whoever wins the Republican nomination for United States Senator must offer example after example of the incompetence of Democrat/Communist United States Senator Richard Blumenthal.  Whoever wins the Republican nomination for United States Senator must show that there is a total lack of solutions to the grave economic problems offered by Democrat/Communist United States Senator Richard Blumenthal.  Whoever wins the Republican nomination for United States Senator must expose the disrespect and disregard for the people of Connecticut that Democrat/Communist United States Senator Richard Blumenthal has shown them for years now.  His time has passed, his rhetoric is stale and his lies are increasing daily.   Democrat/Communist United States Senator Richard Blumenthal must and will lose his election in November.  It is inevitable.  It is 1776 all over again.

Connecticut's Next Governor Republican Peter Lumaj

If you do not know already those remaining legal and illegal Connecticut voters will be going to the polls in November to elect a new Governor.  Mercifully Dan Malloy will no longer be Governor in January and he will be able to collect his Connecticut Taxpayer funded pension for life and or broker a sweetheart high paying job where he can continue to brag what a great job he did in Connecticut and continue to condemn all Republicans at all levels of government.
Republicans have a crowded field that are really not be covered by Connecticut's biased media.  Connecticut's biased media looks for a ritualistic condemnation by Republicans of President Trump before they will embrace any state or local Republican.  Thus is rather difficult to gather unbiased information about Connecticut Republican candidates since the media's only concern is to promote and gush over Democrat candidates for Governor such as ex felon Mayor Joe Gamin and Hartford's taxpayer funded bailout Mayor Luke Bronin.
There is a Republican candidate for Governor who I support and I urge my readers to support also.  Peter Lumaj who escaped from communist Albania when he was young and came to our country as a legal immigrant exemplifies what is great about our country.   He is a self made man who understands the horrors of communism.  He has worked hard in his life and is successful contributing greatly to his state and country.
His candidacy for Governor exhibits a breath of fresh air and fresh ideas in the broken arena of Connecticut's politics.  Mr. Lumaj's platforms can be found on his website http://peterlumaj.com/
He has ideas that to me represent a new beginning and hope for Connecticut and its Taxpayers.
Some of his ideas include the selling of the Governor's Mansion, elimination of pensions for statewide constitution office holders, making the Office of Public Auditors  a non-partisan office, eliminate the Citizens Election Program (which in my opinion is a complete waste of money), eliminate the Early Release criminal Program, reform the costly collective bargaining process for state and municipal workers, and make Connecticut a Right-to-Work state.
Mr. Lumaj wants to enforce the unenforced state spending cap along with actually making our government transparent.  His bold ideas are far reaching and progressive.  He actually has a plan for the renaissance of Connecticut.  I appreciate his economic proposals of cutting state spending while also cutting taxes that are essential to get Connecticut economically vibrant again.
It is time for a change in the Connecticut political regime.  It is time for Connecticut Republicans to unite behind Mr. Lumaj and his platforms.  I will be discussing his ideas more in future columns.

Who Wants To Be Connecticut's Governor?

There are a lot of individuals in Connecticut who want to be Governor.  The crowded field of candidates has to raise money to obtain matching taxpayer funds from our bankrupt state thus one receives at this time an enormous amount of emails with great claims of what each candidate will do for the state.  It is predictable that several of the Democrat candidates for Governor wish to continue the failed policies of the Malloy Administration by urging higher taxes, higher state spending, more nepotism and more debt.  An ex convict, Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim is also running logically ignoring rules and laws in his campaign in true Connecticut Democrat Party fashion.  Hartford's Mayor Luke Bronin obviously feels he is well qualified to be Governor by nursing the city into near bankruptcy only to obtain at the last second a taxpayers bailout and by running on a platform on shoving regionalism down all the fiscally stable towns in the state to bail out the fiscally inept cities.  Ultra liberal Middletown Mayor Dan Drew dropped out after he both ran out of money and had his town committee votes taken away from him recently.
On the Republican side conservative Peter Lumaj is running with a stable platform of lower taxes and lower state spending.  Conservative State Representative Prasad Srinivasan is another excellent candidate.  Other candidates offer the wide array of the more common Republican themes of lower taxes and economic growth ideas. To me several of the candidates are RINO's and they no longer have any objectivity or reason to be voted into office.
Along with this parade of ideologies we also have Republican State Senator Joe Markley running for the Lieutenant Governor position.  Mr. Markley who is one of the most conservative members of the State Senate and in my opinion should receive the nomination without hesitation.  I am sure many of the RINO's of the Republican Party will do whatever they can to block his nomination during the convention.
Connecticut in this coming election needs to become conservative and frugal whether they like it or not.  Connecticut's state government needs to save every cent it can to start to address its incredible $60 to $80 billion dollars of short and long term debt along with its unfunded liabilities.  How about if someone running for Governor would develop a plan to ask his or her Administration to take pay cuts, opt out of the pension benefit and come up with real world economic solutions to stimulate Connecticut's economy and pay off this debt?  We know the Democrat candidates can not do this.  We know several Republican candidates can such as Peter Lumaj, Prasad Srinivasan and Joe Markley.  Maybe Connecticut voters can support a change finally in the way our state government runs by voting for conservative candidates in November.  Just a thought to save our state from its impending bankruptcy.

It is Time to Take Back Connecticut. Again is it too late?

As I look back at my columns written over the years I see a reoccurring theme.  Connecticut for whatever reason embraces a care free attitude towards laws, spending and political nepotism.  No matter what the year, season, law or economic issue the results seem to be the same.
The results are poor economic decisions that have bankrupted Connecticut.
Higher taxes will solve all of the state's problems.
Yet even more and higher taxes will solve all of the state's problems.
Connecticut has one of the highest levels of taxes in the country.
There is no budget deficit even when there is one.
Pension reform does not exist until supposedly 2032.
Political nepotism and political appointments run amok.
Regionalization will solve our big cities problems by penalizing well run towns and giving their monies to these corrupt big cities.
There continues to be a net migration of population moving out of Connecticut.
There continues to be a net migration of businesses moving out of Connecticut.
Short and long term debt along with unfunded liabilities are ignored.
Connecticut ranks near last in the country in all types of business, economic freedom and economic well being categories.
There is no following state laws or Connecticut's Constitution.
A voter passed Constitutional Spending Cap is not Constitutional.
Limits on giving money to the state Democrat Party are ignored and circumvented.
Voters have no legal power to recall any elected state official.
Voters have no legal power to eliminate the taxpayer funded public campaign financing program.
Illegal Immigration is embraced and funded by legal Connecticut Taxpayers monies.
Your body parts will become property of Connecticut when you die to be disposed of as they see fit.
Prisoners who commit violent crimes are released early to be allowed to commit even more violent crimes.
Connecticut needs to start all over again.  It is a political and economic mess that should alarm even the most liberal in the state.  This current legislative session again proves the lack of economic foresight and long term solutions to Connecticut's problems.
The answers to me are simplistic.  Cut spending.  Cut waste and fraud in Connecticut's government.  Cut salaries, benefits and pensions for both management and non management state workers.  Eliminate useless laws and state programs that waste money.  Lower taxes.
It is simple yet complex.  Especially for individuals who feed off of the Connecticut Taxpayer's trough for their personal political and financial gains while these same Connecticut Taxpayers are condemned by these same politcially connected individuals.
It is Time to Take Back Connecticut.  Again is it too late?

Will there ever be a debate between Connecticut Progressives and Connecticut Conservatives?

Will there ever be a debate between Connecticut Progressives and Connecticut Conservatives?  On the future of the Connecticut economy?  On the tax structure of Connecticut?  On benefits, wages and pensions for Connecticut state employees both union, non union and management positions?  On addressing the short and long term debt structure of Connecticut?
It logical that many would view this debate as being fruitless.
The Connecticut Democrat Party has an exceptional liberal and progressive view of the state's economy and economic conditions.  It seems on annual basis their policies and plans of action include the elimination of more personal and business freedoms.  It also includes implementation of new taxes, extensions of existing taxes and shifting state mandated programs to most local towns and cities with no or limited funding being given to them to run them.  To them and to the voters who back them this seems to be an acceptable way to run Connecticut's government.  Transparency and the rule of state laws also are ignored.  The protection of illegal immigrants and a non equilibrium minimum wage are a priority.
The Connecticut Republican Party has a handful of conservatives in the party who try to act as a voice of reason in their limited debates with running Connecticut's government.  The most noted in my opinion are State Senators Joe Markley and Len Suzio and State Representatives Rob Sampson and Craig Fishbein who are fiscally and socially conservative.  They are in my opinion a guiding light in trying to correct the excesses of the failed economic and social programs in our state.  Peter Lumaj a conservative who most recently ran for Secretary of State in 2014 is leading a drive for the Republican Gubernatorial nomination in 2018.  The Connecticut Republican Party has continually fought to be allowed to be included in state budget negotiations but have been boxed out for years now.  2017 is no different in my opinion.  Also in my opinion the Connecticut Republican Party over the years has become very moderate and liberal in its views, thus becoming non existent  in the governing process.  In the cities of Bridgeport, Hartford and New Haven the local Republican Party is irrelevant and virtually non existent as the local Democrat Party rules with an iron fist with horrific economic results.
The 2017 Connecticut State Budget offers more of the same policies and taxes that keep Connecticut in the bottom five states in our country as far as job creation, debt per capita, unfunded liabilities, economic vitality, economic wellness and highest tax categories.  The payment for these excesses in now being passed onto to local taxpayers through the form of higher property taxes.
Will there ever be a debate between Connecticut Progressives and Connecticut Conservatives?  I highly doubt it as those are economically and financially mobile are moving out of Connecticut daily. Many of Connecticut's middle class are trapped here in an economic cesspool of taxation without representation.  The debate here is real.  It has been ignored too long.  A rational economic thought process needs to begin again in Connecticut.  It still has not started in 2017.

Swick's Final Thoughts on 2016

This will be my last column for 2016.  I will be back with a special New Years Day column in 2017.
A great deal has occurred in 2016.  We have a new President Trump and Vice President Pence.  We have seen the beginning of the end for the Clinton dynasty.  In Connecticut voters continue their rejection of the Connecticut Democrat Party and their irrational economic tax and spend policies.  Connecticut continues to lose many businesses and continues to have a net migration of population out of Connecticut.  Connecticut continues to rank near last in most economic categories in 2016.  The state's pension system is an economic debacle broke with a ridiculous proposal currently to push to 2032 the bulk of its debt.  It was a year of the same stale economic rhetoric from Hartford's Omnipotent One Party Rule which mercifully is day by day losing its grip on power in Hartford.  The City of Hartford continues is economic decline with a brand new baseball stadium in disrepair with no games being played there along with the push for a "regional" sales tax to bail them out.  More of the same in Hartford.  There was the usual mix of Connecticut political corruption that just never seems to end.
Dan Malloy will continue as the Head of the Governors Association shaking down donors who will demand better results than what they got in this past election and spending the bulk of his time out of Connecticut in hope of getting a new job when does not get re elected in 2018.  The hope is once again that in 2018 the Republicans will prevail in taking control of the State House and complete control of the State Senate rather the current split 18-18.  And more importantly win the Governorship with a conservative candidate like Peter Lumaj in the upcoming election.
I also think about the hundreds of million of dollars that was spent in this last campaign.  Think about all of the people who could have been helped, the poor, the sick, college loans, etc. with it rather where it went, in the pockets of overpaid political consultants, a biased media and pollsters who have no clue what is going on in our country.  Also think about all of the money that is in the Clinton Foundation that does not get spent on "charitable" endeavors.
Thus we will be entering 2017 with a new found hope in a new and dynamic President Trump and Vice President Pence who have already shaken up Washington and its stale political process.  We know the liberal media will each day condemn him however it looks like he will be ignoring them and take his messages directly to the citizens and taxpayers of our country.  What a refreshing thought for America.  In my economic opinion when all is said and done America will have entered a great period of economic growth and prosperity and our future will look great again.
I wish to thank all of my loyal readers who both and agree and disagree with my writings and thoughts.  I wish to also thank Capitol Report 2016 for being on their "The List" of columnists.  Without you this column does not exist.  I have always wanted what is best for my town of Wallingford, for Connecticut and for the United States of America whether you agree with me or not.  It can only be achieved through economic growth and prosperity,  a belief in spirituality, through productive and fair employment, through self reliance not reliance on an ineffective government and through a desire to see all in our country be successful and in good health.
Happy Hanukkah.
Merry Christmas.
Happy New Year.
Thank You.
See you next year.
