Everything That Is Bad Is Good In Connecticut

In Connecticut anything that may be considered bad is somehow good.
In this past horrific Legislative session we have seen a great deal of bad sugarcoated as good.
A session marked little to no public comment by Connecticut Taxpayers on bills brought up, an unread budget “implementer” that raised taxes and with several alcohol impaired legislators voting on bills and laws.  This past horrific Legislative session shows Connecticut Taxpayers how further in decline both economically and socially we have progressed as a state.  A state that continues to lag behind the rest of the United States in income growth, job creation and new business development.  A state that ranks last in many economic categories such some of the highest taxes in the country, illogical business regulations and an infrastructure that is collapsing.
We now have online gambling that is legal and taxed to help pay for the enormous salaries, benefits and pensions that we pay to our state elite ruling class.  Those who least can afford it will now gamble even more and waste even more of their money.  Doesn’t Connecticut have enough gambling already from tribal casinos, off track betting, thousands of scratch off tickets (with many losing tickets that litter our roads and properties), and roughly seven daily numbers games?  Isn’t the state receiving enough revenues from the gambling that is already taxed to help pay for the enormous salaries, benefits and pensions that we pay to our state elite ruling class?
We now have legalized marijuana by decree in a 270 page bill approved by corporate marijuana companies that apparently and somehow creates “new” jobs and “new” businesses for socially disadvantaged groups in the same areas that crime and drug abuse are rampant.  However for the new taxation that the state receives we should see a massive increase in crime and drug abuse.
Doesn’t Connecticut already have a massive drug problem with deaths and overdoses occurring on a day to day basis?  Why do we want to create new and younger drug addicts through clever marketing ads and schemes?  Isn’t there enough crime in Connecticut already?  I did not see any legislation helping to reduce crime this session just more elimination of past crimes on criminals records and less legal law enforcement taking place.  And I found it very ironic that Ned Lamont wants to ban favored vaping items (like this is going to solve any problems in the state) but legalize marijuana.  And what is the actual involvement in these new legal marijuana companies by the Lamont’s hedge fund?  How much profit will they make? Will that be disclosed?  Of course not.
A tobacco company has decided recently to move into Connecticut and will create 200 jobs.  You heard me right 200 jobs!  Connecticut has lost over 100,000 jobs over the past few years and it will be years once again before the state recovers  This relocation is hailed by Ned Lamont and the Connecticut Democrat Party as yet another economic cure all for our depressed economy.  There was nothing in this past Legislative session that shows any Connecticut Taxpayer that anything is being done for our economy except raising taxes to pay for the enormous salaries, benefits and pensions that we pay to our state elite ruling class.  Why is that?
So this is what Connecticut Taxpayers get for a $23 Billion dollar budget, a budget that is spent mainly on salaries, benefits and pensions of state union and management employees, no bid state contracts to the politically connected along with ever increasing state debt interest payments.  I guess you need to be excited about it.  Because in Connecticut everything that is bad is good.  Everything good and or healthy is bad.  And Connecticut Taxpayers must continue to pay for economic debacle called government.  A sham government that really should be completely de-funded once and for all.  History does repeat itself.  Is this 1776 again?

The Nightmare “Implementer” Bill Forced On Connecticut Taxpayers

The “Implementer”  What a nightmare coming up for Connecticut Taxpayers in this secret 837 page document that was dumped upon the Legislature by the Connecticut Democrat Party with no notice.  Read 837 pages quickly because that is the Connecticut Democrat Party way.  A Party of secrecy.  A Party of deception and control.
I think everyone in our state should read this “Implementer” bill.  You will be shocked what was in it.
Here is the actual bill: https://www.cga.ct.gov/2021/TOB/S/PDF/2021SB-01202-R00-SB.PDF

From secret raises for judges, new boards and commissions, to losing funds if your school has an Indian name, to political correctness this bill has it all.
This “Implementer” was well thought out as to which Connecticut Democrat Party operatives were going to be rewarded and what individuals and groups were going to be damaged.
This “Implementer” shows the worse of our state government, secret back room deals and big victories for lobbyists.
This “Implementer” should be illegal.  Didn’t the Legislature have a complete session to discuss issues publicly?  Do our elected officials deem Connecticut Taxpayers to be too stupid or ignorant to provide a dissenting voice on issues that they do not agree with such as legalization of marijuana, truck taxes, pay raises for judges, climate control taxes via the misguided and economically irrational TCI that would create shortages of needed energy for the state and rampant drinking on the job by our state legislators?
Why must the Connecticut Democrat Party govern in this manner?  It reminds me of what is done in an undeveloped third world country and or banana republic.  Laws and rules are only for legal Connecticut Taxpayers while a governing elite dictates what we can and can’t have.  Those same rules and laws and a state Constitution are not applicable to the Connecticut Democrat Party and their enablers.
This “Implementer” is once again an excellent example of the total disrespect and disregard that Ned Lamont and his friends have for the Connecticut Taxpayer.  How is this bill justifiable?  What is their end game?  Complete and total control of our lives?  I really wonder sometimes.  Free Connecticut from the Connecticut Democrat Party.

Connecticut’s New Democrat Party Truck Toll Tax. Welcome To Higher Prices For Everything.

I wonder if Connecticut Taxpayers understand that the Connecticut Democrat Party loves taxes.  If they could every aspect of Connecticut Taxpayer’s lives would be taxed, from miles driven in their personal and business vehicles along with the air they breathe.  From every time they flush their toilets to every morsel of food they eat in order to survive in this economic wasteland of a state.
Our Legislature (whether sober or not) satisfied our Executive Order Governor by passing yet another transportation toll tax this time on our trucking industry.
Part of the House Bill 6688 summary is quoted below:
“Beginning January 1, 2023, this bill imposes a highway use tax (HUT) on every “carrier” for the privilege of operating, or causing to be operated, certain heavy, multi-unit motor vehicles on any highway (i.e., public road) in the state. The HUT is calculated based on a vehicle’s weight and the number of miles driven in the state. The bill establishes per-mile tax rates that increase based on vehicle gross weight, ranging from (1) 2.5 cents per mile for vehicles weighing 26,000-28,000 pounds (lbs.) to (2) 17.5 cents per mile for vehicles weighing more than 80,000 lbs. Revenue from the tax is directed to the Special Transportation Fund (STF) (see BACKGROUND). Under the bill, carriers must file returns and remit the tax to the Department of Revenue Services (DRS) on a monthly basis. The bill requires carriers to obtain HUT permits from DRS and establishes procedures for suspending or revoking them. It also applies to the HUT various collection, enforcement, and appeals process provisions that apply to other taxes under existing law. The bill authorizes the DRS commissioner to adopt implementing regulations for the HUT and prohibits tax credits from being applied against the HUT. *House Amendment “B” exempts certain motor vehicles transporting milk.”

My question to the Connecticut Democrat Party is who is actually going to pay this toll tax?  What does the “Special Transportation Fund” do for Connecticut Taxpayers?  What makes the fund “Special”?  Does the Connecticut Democrat Party think that the trucking industry will just eat this toll tax and not pass it on to consumers through much higher costs for all the products that are delivered in the state?  Does the Connecticut Democrat Party understand the amount of products that come into the state are by trucks of these sizes?  Do they think our state economy is self-sufficient and does not need to have anything shipped into the state?  Why in the middle of an economic recession would they want to raise prices for all consumers in the state?
We as Connecticut Taxpayer’s will never get any answers to these questions.  The Connecticut Democrat Party loves to tax anything and everything in our state.  This new truck toll tax will down the road be argued for all cars in the state (with plenty of exemptions written for Connecticut Democrat Party members and their donors to their party) since cars will probably be made a scapegoat for “damage” made to state roads.  The same state roads that we see hayfields growing on the side of them since the grass seems only to be cut once a season.
Maybe the trucking industry will teach the Connecticut Democrat Party a lesson and boycott delivering to the state.  Maybe the Connecticut Democrat Party will tell Connecticut Taxpayers to grow their own food like they do in Venezuela.  So we won’t be dependent on trucks.
We can really make Connecticut like a Third World Nation/Banana Republic that Ned Lamont, the state run media and the Connecticut Democrat Party so desperately want to have and control for their personal financial gains and power.  Welcome to much higher prices for everything coming very soon. Thanks to our Supreme Rulers in Hartford, the Connecticut Democrat Party.

Drinks For The State Legislature Compliments Of Connecticut Taxpayers

In the secret physical meeting rooms of Connecticut’s Legislature what apparently has been going on beyond closed doors for a long time has actually come to light through a video of Democrat Representative Robin Comey of Branford on the floor of the House obviously impaired from alcohol trying to speak.  She later admitted her guilt and issued an apology.  Democrat Speaker of the House Matt Ritter “read the riot act” to his caucus about alcohol use (whatever that means in Connecticut) and another crisis seems to be buried and hushed up once again.
This situation of drinking on the job was also brought to light when the upper parking lot of the State Legislator Building was apparently used for tailgating by some legislators for drinks after a session.
If you are a Connecticut Taxpayer you need to ask a few questions.
1.  Why does the State Legislature continue to meet at all hours of the night when discussing and voting on legislation?
2. What would happen if you were drinking or using drugs at your job?  Is drinking or using drugs at your job allowed?
3. Are you allowed to drink in the parking garage and or parking lot of your place of employment either during and or after working hours?
4. Why has this situation apparently gone on for years and been hushed up?
5. How many pieces of legislation and laws have been passed with votes by alcohol impaired State Legislators?  Hundreds? Thousands?
6. Why is drinking allowed in this Connecticut Taxpayer funded building?
7.  How does an impaired by alcohol State Legislator actually represent the Connecticut Taxpayers in their district?
This is a serious problem that has come to light.  By “reading the riot act” really does not give Connecticut Taxpayers any assurances that this type of behavior will stop.  It to me just continues to reinforce the concept that our Connecticut State Legislature and in particular the Connecticut Democrat Party is completely irresponsible in its actions and has no regard to the rule of law nor respects in any way shape or form the Connecticut Taxpayers who through their payment of the taxes paid to the state of Connecticut support this Banana Republic based form of government. Starting from Ned Lamont and his family’s hedge fund profits from the Covid-19 crisis to the corruption of Bridgeport, to now alcohol impaired State Legislators, Connecticut Taxpayers again have no rights, no voice in state government nor any reason to keep supporting this legislative body or state government through paying their taxes.
We know our questions will never be answered.  We know when we comment in a public hearing about upcoming legislation it is ignored.  And we now have yet another debacle that will be hushed up and magically go away.
Connecticut’s government is an incoherent, non-functional garbage pail of failed ideas, failed laws and failed leadership.  To me there is no reason to keep funding it.  It is time to start over with a new government as we really have “Taxation Without Representation”.
